I am on my way to the airport, with a heavy heart, to fly to Las Vegas for our first program since the tragedy that occurred here two weeks ago. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends, as well as everyone affected by the horrific shooting.
We considered cancelling BarSmarts, out of respect to those that were directly affected and are mourning and healing, but upon careful consideration, determined instead that we are going to Las Vegas in spite of this tragedy, to show solidarity, and to be sure that people know that this sort of social terrorism will not keep us all from working together and supporting one another. We refuse to allow this to destroy our society, but rather that we will indeed mourn, and we will always remember, but we must now join together to rebuild and become stronger in the face of such adversity.
We want to assure all that are attending BarSmarts, from Las Vegas or anywhere else, and all of our friends in the trade, that this is our attempt to remind everyone that we must continue with our lives, and that we are indeed supporting this community in its hour of need.
Pernod Ricard USA is collaborating with other suppliers and local customers to develop fundraising programs for the victims, and also has been providing counseling services to employees and customers who were at the event.
The BAR Partners and Team join with Pernod Ricard USA in helping the southern Nevada community deal with this heinous event, to honor those killed and injured, and to proactively assist in moving past it to build further on Vegas Strong.
Here is one way we can all help:
