๐ฐ "Scientists are taking improv classes; it might help rebuild trust in science."
That was the takeaway from a recent Wall Street Journal feature on the work of Alan Alda and the Alda Center, where researchers use improv exercises to become better listeners, communicators, and collaborators.
For those of us in the improv community, this isn't exactly breaking news.
For decades, people have been discovering that improv isn't just about being funny. It's about learning to listen, think on your feet, connect with others, communicate clearly, and become more comfortable with uncertainty.
Those skills can help on stage, at work, in relationships, in classrooms, in meetings, and yesโeven in scientific research.
At The PIT, we see these transformations happen every day!
Whether you're interested in comedy, creativity, confidence, public speaking, or simply trying something new, improv has a way of improving more than your scene work.
It might just improve your life.
