Did you take a guess at last week’s Trivia Tuesday? šŸ‡

We asked: How many vineyards are there in Minnesota?

The answer: Over 400!

Minnesota’s wine industry is bigger than many people realize, with hundreds of vineyards helping grow the cold-hardy grapes that make our local wines possible.

Now for this week’s question…

Trivia Tuesday:
What is the name of the international wine competition hosted annually in Minnesota that celebrates wines made from cold-climate grape and fruit varietals?

There’s just something about a weekend made for outdoor seating.

A glass in hand. Sunshine on your shoulders. A view of the vines, the patio, the prairie, the lake, the rolling hills, or wherever your favorite Minnesota winery happens to be tucked away.

One of the best parts about visiting local wineries and tasting rooms this time of year? So many of them are built for exactly this kind of weekend.

We’re talking patios, picnic areas, lawn seating, tables tucked near the vines, live music spaces, outdoor fire pits, shady spots, sunny spots, and plenty of room to slow down and sip a little longer. (And indoor space if the heat gets to be a little too much!)

Whether you’re planning a full afternoon with friends, a low-key date, or a spontaneous ā€œlet’s go somewhereā€ kind of day, Minnesota wine country is ready for you.

Find a patio. Pick a pour. Stay awhile.

This heat can only mean one thing…

Wine slushies are back!

When the Midwest summer turns up the temperature, a chilled glass of wine is always a good idea — but sometimes, you need something extra refreshing. That’s where wine slushies, wine floats, frozen rosĆ©, sangria-style sippers, and other summer wine creations come in.

They’re cool, playful, and perfect for patio season — a great way to enjoy local wine in a lighter, more laid-back way when a traditional glass just feels a little too warm for the day.

Many Minnesota and Wisconsin wineries feature wine slushies, wine floats, and other seasonal summer sippers during the hot months, often made with their own locally crafted wines. So next time the forecast says ā€œscorcher,ā€ consider it your sign to find a nearby winery, grab something frozen, and sip your way through summer.

Stay cool, wine friends. Patio season was made for this. ā˜€ļø

šŸ‡ Trivia Tuesday Answer šŸ‡

Did you take a guess at last week’s trivia?

We asked: Which Minnesota-developed cold-climate grape is known for producing white wines with bright acidity and notes often described as apricot, citrus, peach, and tropical fruit?

The correct answer is La Crescent!

This Minnesota-developed grape is a beautiful example of what makes Midwest wine so exciting. Built to handle our northern climate, La Crescent can still bring bright, aromatic, and complex flavors to the glass.

So next time you see La Crescent on a tasting menu, give it a try — it just might surprise you.

Stay tuned — we’ll have a brand new Tuesday Trivia coming later tonight! šŸ·

Pizza and wine really might be a match made in heaven.

The sauce, the cheese, the crust, the toppings… pizza brings a little bit of everything to the table, which makes it such a fun food to pair with wine. A bright white or rosĆ© can balance out salty cheese and rich sauces, a fruit-forward red can hold its own with pepperoni or sausage, and a sparkling wine can cut through all that delicious, melty goodness in the best way.

Pizza just has the same energy as wine: easy to love, meant to be shared, and somehow always the right answer.

The best part? You don’t have to figure it out alone! So many of our local Minnesota wineries serve pizza or flatbreads right on site, and their teams are always happy to help you find the perfect pairing for your pour.
