The Better Beer Society is a multi-faceted agency dedicated to the growth and promotion of craft beer, and every aspect of its service. The Better Beer Society will provide education, collaboration, and representation to retailers, distributors, and breweries in an effort to increase the knowledge and awareness of craft beer in Minnesota. In order to facilitate these services, all agents of the Be

tter Beer Society will be certified as either Certified Cicerones™, as Beer Judge Certification Program judges, or both. These agents are well versed in beer styles, history, service, and food pairings. Their knowledge will be tapped to facilitate the needs of our clients. In addition to the services that we will provide, and perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Better Beer Society, retailers will be able to become BBS Certified through a series of evaluations centered around proper beer service, selection, storage, and knowledge. This certification will inform the community of the retailer’s commitment to quality beer and service, and promote the establishment as a destination for better beer. Our Story

The Better Beer Society is a best-practices organization for how beer is handled, served and sold in Minnesota. Our organization aims to implement these best practices through a series of professional services designed for all parts of the three-tier system. From designing and installing proper draft systems that focus on eliminating beer waste to educating and properly training staff on best-practice service / assurance techniques, or through our comprehensive ongoing draft maintenance and partnership program...our mission is to continuously improve industry standards. In order to facilitate these services, all employees of the Better Beer Society have years of industry experience, and/or have numerous certifications, including Certified Cicerones®, Micro Matic, and through the Beer Judge Certification Program. Our team is well versed in draft system components and troubleshooting, FOH service, beer styles, off-flavor recognition, etc. In addition to the industry services that we provide, and perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Better Beer Society, career-minded beer enthusiasts have the ability to become BBS Certified through a series of evaluations centered around proper beer service, selection, storage, and knowledge. This certification offers them the ability to become a well-rounded beer professionals, learning practical knowledge through a unique hands-on approach.
