Matt’s Aunt Bridget joined the Every Minute Counts campaign and pledged $1/minute alongside Little Wendy Bird, ready to watch that clock run on October 10th and turn every minute of protest into something good.

This wasn’t her business or her campaign, but she believed in it and showed up for it anyway.

The protesters didn’t come and we never got to run the clock, but last week she donated $100 anyway! No obligation, just a woman who made a promise and kept it at the end.

Matt has excellent taste in aunts. I’m not giving her back. 😄

Last week a friend and I drove to SR Harris Fabric Outlet and dug through barrels of buttons and wandered aisles of fabric for hours (and I have zero regrets)!

Even after the adventure was over, the Hobbit still showed up.
The Happy Hobbit Handcrafted had pledged $1/minute for every minute protesters were present at Austin MN Pride.
Buuuuut, the protesters didn't show and the clock never ran. And she donated anyway, because she said she would and she meant it.
No dragons required. No fellowship necessary. Just a hobbit with a good heart and excellent follow-through. 💛
This is the kind of person I want in my corner. This is the kind of community I want to live in.

Well, they didn’t come.

And honestly? I don’t know exactly how I feel about that. Happy, obviously! Relieved, yes! But also a tiny bit like we trained for a race that got cancelled at the finish line. We had the countdown clock and people were watching. Everyone was excited and ready and then... they just didn’t show.

Is anyone else feeling that weird mix? Just me? 😅

The protesters who called out Austin MN Pride specifically (came to the festival last year) and told us they’d be there this year. Who accidentally fundraised $278 for a women’s reproductive health organization just by making the threat. They didn’t show up to collect their donation. 🤷‍♀️

So we donated it anyway. Because we said we would and we meant it. Because this community deserves it on any day, protest or not!

$278. Going exactly where it belongs. 💛

It’s here! Austin MN Pride at Bandshell Park is tomorrow and I have one last thing to ask of you.

First! A final update:

💛 Pot total: $278: donated to a women’s reproductive health organization tomorrow. No conditions, it's already happening!
⏱️ $5/minute: in partnership with The Happy Hobbit Handcrafted, Barefoot Lane LLC, Bridget Sheely, and one Anonymous Donor - for every minute protesters are present. (In their honor of course!) 😇

We added ANOTHER per-minute pledger this week, bringing us to $5/min, and I am so proud of this community I could burst.

🛍️ The Etsy shop is closing tonight. My sister is running the booth tomorrow and I want her to have a stress-free day without juggling live inventory on top of it. If you want something from Little Wendy Bird, tonight is your last chance to order online.

Someone ordered 50 pairs of earrings from my shop!

Which means:
💛 Pot total: $278 donated to a women's reproductive health organization on October 10th (in our protestors names) regardless of what happens
⏱️ $4/minute on top of that, with The Happy Hobbit Handcrafted, Barefoot Lane LLC, and Bridget Sheely, for every minute protesters are present

I sometimes get asked how fabric actually becomes an earring, so here's the simple version.

I start with a two-piece button blank. I cut a circle of fabric, stretch it over the front shell, tuck the edges in, and snap the back into place. That one little button then gets turned into whatever it's becoming; an earring, a badge reel cover, a magnet.

The steps might seem pretty straightforward, but getting the fabric to sit just right, making sure the pattern is centered, choosing which part of a print lands on the front of something button-sized can sometimes be a struggle. 😅

I did the adult thing today, I had my colonoscopy.
