Mendota VFW Post 6690

Mendota VFW Post 6690 The best little VFW club in historic Mendota, Minnesota. The Best Little VFW in Minnesota!

At Mendota Vasatka-Goers VFW Post 6690, we're not your typical veterans service organization. We combine old school principles with a new age feel, providing a crucial link between veterans and our Minnesota community. Our mission is simple: foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts, serve our veterans, the military, and our communities, and advocate on behalf of all ve

terans. With nearly 1.7 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary, we stand together to honor military service and ensure the care of veterans and their families. But we're not just a place for veterans to belong - we're a place for everyone in the community to come together. Whether you're looking to enjoy some charitable gambling, have a drink at our full bar, or grab a snack, we have something for everyone. At the Best Little VFW in Minnesota, we treat our donors as partners in our cause and always put the interests of our members first. We respect the diversity of veteran opinions and strive to serve our communities in every way possible. So come on down to Mendota Vasatka-Goers VFW Post 6690 and see for yourself why we're the Best Little VFW in Minnesota.

Today we recognize and thank the men and women who served during the Vietnam War. Many returned home without the support, respect, or recognition they deserved.

This day is a chance to acknowledge their service, their sacrifice, and their continued impact in our communities.

If you know a Vietnam Veteran, take a moment to reach out. Say thank you. Listen to their story.

Their service still matters today.

On March 25th, we recognize National Medal of Honor Day, a time to honor the brave men and women who have demonstrated extraordinary courage in service to our nation.

The Medal of Honor is the highest distinction awarded by the President, in the name of Congress, to members of the Armed Forces who have distinguished themselves through gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their lives above and beyond the call of duty.

As awareness of this prestigious honor has declined in recent years, National Medal of Honor Day serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by these heroes. It is a day to renew our commitment to recognizing and appreciating those who have given so much in defense of our freedoms.

Please join Mendota VFW in honoring all Medal of Honor recipients and reflecting on their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication.

One of the things that makes the veteran community special is that service doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off. Veterans continue to serve in different ways—by showing up, by helping families, and by stepping in when kids need stability and care.

This Mendota VFW family has done exactly that. Beyond their service to our country, they’ve opened their home and their hearts to children who need a safe place to land. They’re now working through the legal process to make that care permanent, which comes with unexpected legal expenses.

Please take a moment to read their story and share if you can!

This is what service looks like after service.

This Veterans Day, we’re proud to share this powerful video from the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans—an organization leading the effort to end Veteran homelessness across Minnesota.

The video shines a light on the challenges Veterans continue to face and the incredible work being done to help them find stability, purpose, and home.

We’re grateful for partners like MACV who make a difference for Veterans every day.

This is the kind of work we’re proud to stand behind.

Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans just opened 14 units of Veteran housing in Robbinsdale—converting a 125-year-old hotel into a place where Veterans can start fresh with stability and dignity.

This project, called The Robin, is what happens when local communities, government, and nonprofits work together with purpose.

The housing complex for homeless and low-income veterans is opening in a 100-year-old hotel.
