🍓💚 HOPPER HIGHLIGHTS — Strawberry Parade Edition! 💚🍓
🎉 Marysville’s Strawberry Festival & Grand Parade — the city’s biggest annual event — and the Hoppers showed up BIG (ok like 12) as Marysville’s favorite (okay… only 😉) square dance club! 🏆 We won the Crowd Pleaser Award! The community loved us — photos, high‑fives, and even a few folks asking about lessons and upcoming dances.
🧩 Puzzle Float Success! We had a blast assembling the Mount Baker Council https://www.sqdance.org/ float — gaff tape, mismatched Velcro, and all. We wrapped up our part and passed the float on to the next club for their local parade. Huge gratitude to Karen Neverdowski for storing the council parade trailer!
🚚 Huge thanks to our Hopper Mob VP Karen’s son for driving his amazing truck (with air‑conditioning… the real MVP).
📱🎀 Parade chaos moments: Cindy lost her f***y pack for a few, Alana misplaced her phone but we found it, Andrene’s petticoat got caught on the speaker… Bri forgot her fan, but Melody saved the day with a spare! Just another day with the Mob.
🦀🌼 Our parade neighbors: a giant Dungeness crab float in front of us and Daffodil cars behind us — peak PNW energy.
📣 Vance Morrison led us joyfully down State Street, promoting the Happy Hoppers and Mount Baker Council the whole way. Thank you Vance!
🙈 We may have missed the judges and weren’t dancing when we passed them… oops.
🥵 We were entry #27 this year (instead of way at the end like last year), so we finished early and…
🌮 Celebrated with Mexican food!
💡 But don’t worry — we already have great ideas for next year!
