It's been hot again; and we didn't wanna stress Primrose out so the last couple of days we gave Prim a break from because the last time she didn't want her near her.

But this morning, my husband took Nugget out, and Primrose met them at the gate. She cleaned Nugget and let her get a belly full before pushing her off gently.

So it was a successful feeding!
Nugget got to run and play with the other calves and enjoy the cool breezy morning before it gets up into the 100s again.

We've been taking out to nurse on Primrose 1 to 2 times a day. But tonight, Prim didn't want her and tossed her away with her horns a couple of different times so we pulled Nugget so she didn't get hurt. Nugget didn't understand, and was not happy to be taken away. But, she will settle down once back in the house and a belly full of milk from the bottle. 🥲

Prim has been patient with her and us but she knows it isn't her natural born calf. So I expect hiccups throughout.

A wild group of Highlands! 😆
These 3 ladies we purchased in the herd dispersal are nearly as wild as deer! They rarely come out of the woods and run immediately at the sight of people. 🫠

However, after several weeks out in the pasture, they finally decided to be a part of the main herd and this is the first time they'd ever come up in open pasture to the house. Also the first time they didn't immediately run at the sight of a person! Hopefully the main herd is finally calming them down. 🩶

Currently out being bred by our AHCA Dun Canadian import bull. 🤗

Lunch time! 🤗

Primrose tries to stay patient with Nugget! Nugget struggles finding the milk bar lol.

I love I can take Nugget out and she goes straight to Prim for her grooming and a nurse. 🥰🩶

Nugget can't keep up usually when the herd moves to the back of the maternity pen, so for feedings, I have to lock them up front. But it works!
