WINE TIP # 12 – LIGHT-BODIED WINES
These will always be whites, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and some less-familiar varietals like Albariño from Spain, and Grüner Veltliner and Gewürztraminer, which are mainly produced in Germany and Austria, and go great with Indian, Thai, and similar spicy foods.
They are very light colored in the glass, like pale straw, and may look almost like water. Remember…the lighter the color, the lighter the body. They have various flavor profiles, depending on where they’re from, but will generally be very fruity, with zippy acidity. They’re great as aperitifs, and as summer refreshers. Serve them around 45-53 degrees. A bit warmer than refrigerator temperature.
