VENUE VIBE CHECK: Afterhours club is a sight to see. Encompassing 6,500 square feet, the Fremont Street club is a tribute to the early days of Detroit techno and New York’s underground house scene. ⁣ ⁣⁣⁠⁠

The club is named after its focal point: a large discoball connected to eight custom-built tentacles that light up as if it were dancing to the beat like a trippy Kraken.⁣ ⁣⁣⁠⁠

VENUE VIBE CHECK: is one of the Arts District’s best-kept secrets. Hidden at 70 W. Imperial Ave. in the alley between Main and Commerce, the aptly-named Cork and Thorn doubles as a wine bar and floral shop, with private floral design classes, ho**ah, and live entertainment. ⁣⁠⁠

“I love wine — it’s my passion — and floral is what I do,” says owner Randi Garrett, who’s designed floral arrangements in Las Vegas for 25 years through her company, . Combining both of her passions, she opening Cork and Thorn at Tivoli Village in 2016 before moving to DTLV two years ago. ⁣⁠⁠

From the outside, Cork and Thorn is nondescript, save for a mural. Once you step inside and walk through the white rose-covered door, you’re in a whole new world. The space carries an upscale lounge vibe with floral accents, a full bar with a lengthy wine list and premium spirits, and a stage where R&B, jazz, and neo soul bands perform Wednesdays through Sundays. They also host outdoor block parties on the weekends with food and drink specials.⁠⁠
