Long before there was a Lake Toxaway, a grand hotel, a railroad depot, or Grand Olde Station, these mountains already held generations of history.

From the ancestral Cherokee homeland to the Revolutionary era and the early settlers who built lives in the coves and hollows of Western North Carolina, the story of Lake Toxaway begins long before the lake itself.
