My venture into soap making started as a way to provide quality bath products for my family. My son & husband both have Keratosis Pilaris and soaps and lotions that were advertised as moisturizing and nourishing just...weren't. Not only did I take great joy in the process of making it, but the results were far better than I could've expected. There was a noticeable difference in the feel of our sk

in and I knew that could never go back to store-bought soap. I set out to discover why the quality of handcrafted soap was so much better than commercial bath products. What I found was quite a shock. I had been using synthetic detergents all my life! The traditional method of soap making allows conditioning oils and butters, like palm oil, olive oil and shea butter (just to name a few) to be naturally saponified into a cleansing bar with a silky lather while still retaining their naturally moisturizing properties. True soap is such an unexpected luxury and something that can be difficult to find in our area. All of my products are made locally here in Kingsport. I'm truly excited to be able to bring some new (actually, an ancient art) to the table through The Vestige Market Soap Company. In addition to high quality, luxury soaps, I look forward to offering handcrafted lotions, balms, butters, scrubs and much more. I have big plans for VMSC, including custom "catering," spa party bundles and providing natural alternatives to those sensitive to commercial bath products. Here's a update. We've received our first shipments of toothpaste, toothbrushes and antibiotic ointment. We're still waiting on our shampoo supplies but we should still be able to complete and deliver our first 50 kits by our target of mid February :)

We have so many supplies on the way! When we place an order, we get a notification of an online donation. Then, we just place more orders! We're anxiously awaiting our packages so be can begin stuffing hygiene kits!

Summer Hamrick recently decided to use her soap-making craft as a mission project of sorts. She recently launched Soap for Hope, a hygiene drive to provide hygiene kits to Kingsport's Shades of Grace United Methodist Church.

Thanks to so many generous donations, the first round of hygiene kit supplies is on it's way to Kingsport, Tennessee! We should be able to drop off the first 48 kits in early February, but we were able to purchase most of the supplies towards the next 70! If you're interested in helping, you can donate online or in person at my office at the Ink Revolution location in Kingsport.
