Missed the Mourvèdre Vertical Tasting? Taste through it at HOME! 🙌🏼🤩
• After tasting through every vintage of Mourvèdre from Dead Poplar and Coyote Canyon, I think one thing is clear. Mourvèdre in Washington is no joke. These wines showed so much youth still. The wines are lively with great pepper and wild berry fruit. Vintages like the 208 and 2021 seem to be immortal. Still showing slight reduction and big fruit that hasn’t given way at all yet. They are fuller in style, I see these wines going another 10 years easy in a cellar. The 2017 tannins have calmed down and are showing brilliant with a short decant. The 2019 vintage shows such a pretty side of Mourvèdre that is lithe on the palate with its spicy core of red fruits that are framed by beautiful acidity. If you have any 2017’s or 18’s in your cellar you will not be disappointed! If you don’t, here’s your chance!

Mourvèdre is a grape that takes its time.

It loves heat, needs patience, and really shines near the sea. That’s why Bandol, just east of Marseille, is its happy place! Long sunny days, rocky soils, and the cool Mediterranean breeze lets Mourvèdre ripen slowly, which builds the depth, structure, and serious character along the way.

In Bandol, Mourvèdre shows up bold but balanced: dark fruit, savory herbs, spice, and that slightly wild edge we love. These are wines built to age and evolve!

Let’s dive into how this grape changes with vintage and why Bandol made it famous.
Join our winemaker for a Mourvèdre vertical tasting of our Gold Drop & Crossblock labels THIS Friday the 16th at 6 PM (tickets in our bio).
