Getting Dark Beer Blog

Why and How: Being in the line of work that I’m in, I spend a lot of time traveling. For more than 1/2 of the year, I spend my time in different cities across the United States performing different work for clients in the banking industry. Doing this much travel and spending so much time away from home can be very exhausting. Instead of complaining, I just make the best of it. While working in the different cities I research different breweries, beer events, beer bars, beer stores etc. If there’s something in that area or within two hours of where I’m working, I’ll find it. After doing this for over a year and a half, I finally decided to start Getting Dark Beer Blog in October 2010. I feel that it’s important to record experiences and fun trips, so why not share them with everyone else? What You’ll See: In Getting Dark Beer Blog you’ll find articles and reviews of different beer stores, breweries, beer bars, and beers themselves which I’ve experienced. I don’t give numerical grades to these places because I feel that they can be very subjective. I like to give an idea of what the place is like and my experience there and you can make up your minds by yourself as to whether you’d like to visit that place or drink that certain beer. What You Won’t See: I feel that this goes without say, but you will NEVER see anything on this site having to do with politics, sports, religion or subjects unrelated to beer. I don’t care what your views are on these subjects and if you would like to voice your opinion on them, go find another site. There are plenty of them. Another thing you won’t see is reviews on hype beers. Every year there are plenty of releases of new imperial stouts and IPAs that hit the shelves and every review sounds the same. I’ve tried a great majority of these hype beers and although they’re good, there’s not value in me bragging about how great they were. There are plenty of other great beers out there which you don’t have to wait on line for, win a raffle for, harass your beer store for, or hunt down. I feel there’s a great value in knowing what you can purchase at your local store on any given night and enjoy at home. You will also not see me bashing on breweries, bars, store etc in any articles. I’ve always been told that if you don’t have anything to say, don’t say anything at all. I’ll follow suit with that old saying. Other Random Tidbits: I run this website by myself. I take all the pictures, write all the articles etc. There are plenty of places which I’ve visited that aren’t on this site. If you want to ask me questions about a certain city you think I may visited, feel free to contact me. More importantly, if you want me to review your beer, visit your establishment etc, please feel free to contact me and we’ll make arrangements Until then, Let’s Get Dark.
