The song "Chan Chan" from the best-selling World Music group of all time: Buena Vista Social Club. The rhythm here is a Son Montuno. "Son" is a Cuban genre which was 80% of the material used to create Mambo and Salsa. If you hear closely, you can see how everything in this song adheres to the 3/2 Clave. The bass and conga tumbaos are non existent, although in some Son you do hear them occasionally through the improvisation of individual players. This genre is the grandfather of salsa.
