Tim Sparks is one of the finest fingerstyle guitarists around and, as an artist, is difficult to categorize. He has earned an international reputation as one of the most innovative guitarists working today. He creates magic whether playing blues, jazz, folk, klezmer or classical and will leave you, the listener, totally blown away. Sparks was once part of the jazz group Rio Nido and has toured with Dolly Parton.
He has since delved into a broad swath of global music few guitarists have ventured before; from Balkan dances to Russian symphonies - to blues, spiritual and pop standards, all with flawless, at times playful, and always soulful arrangements. Tim has put out ten solo recordings. Leo Kottke says of Tim “He’s one of the best musicians I know.”
Phil Heywood Is known for his lyrical, soul-satisfying guitar instrumentals, he can draw listeners in with his voice as well, singing in a warm, plainspoken baritone that blends seamlessly with his rock-solid guitar work. Over the years he has garnered a National Fingerpicking Championship, top prize at the American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival, and with appearances on NPR’s *A Prairie Home Companion.” His playing is at once recognizable for its ear-bending clarity of tone and irresistible sense of groove.
Phil has released seven solo CDs. His performances take his audiences on a musical pilgrimage through a rich landscape that is both personal and linked to tradition. His music is thoroughly organic, eminently accessible, and, as one fan put it, bound to “make your ears smile.”
