These three ladies went to New York City together as high school classmates more than 50 years ago. And this year, they decided it was time to do it again.

They weren’t just checking things off a list. They were revisiting a chapter of their lives—together—and creating a whole new one.

Costa Rica packing list: the rainy season edition 🌿🌧️🦟

Last week I shared the 5 things I pack no matter what. But this week? Let’s talk about the things I’m packing because I know better. 😂

🦟 Insect repellent
🧦 Insect-repellent socks
🥾 Hiking shoes
👕 Lightweight long-sleeve shirts
👖 Lightweight pants with built-in SPF

Because it’s rainy season. It’s humid. I’ll be hiking. And those bugs will be buggin’. 😂

The goal is to enjoy every bit of Costa Rica without spending the entire trip swatting, scratching, or wishing I’d packed differently.

And honestly? This is exactly why I love planning travel from the perspective of what will the trip actually feel like? Not just what looks good on the itinerary.

Okay, let’s talk about the day on my Costa Rica itinerary that has me the MOST nervous. 😳😂

Arenal Mundo Aventura.

I’m excited. I’m curious. And if I’m being completely honest… I’m also wondering what exactly I have gotten myself into. 🙈

But this is one of the reasons I love FAM trips so much. I don’t want to recommend an experience to my clients just because the pictures look amazing or the description sounds great.

I want to do it myself. I think my 50s are a decade of risks.

I want to know what it’s really like, how challenging it is, who is going to absolutely LOVE it, and who might be happier choosing something a little different.

So… one week from today, I’ll find out.

And yes, I plan to report back!

Midnight. The TV is on. I’m still working.

Not because I have to—but because there’s something pretty satisfying about getting all the little details right. ✈️

The flights, the hotels, the transfers, the experiences… the things my clients may never see are often the things I spend the most time thinking through.

Just a little behind-the-scenes of travel design. 🌙

One week from today… I’m headed to COSTA RICA! 🇨🇷🌿

And I have to admit… I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that I’m going glamping. 😂

I’ve been invited by the Costa Rican Tourism Board for a week of exploring some of the country’s more unique destinations, experiences, and places to stay — and I cannot wait to see it all firsthand.

We’re talking Caño Negro, a luxury tented camp, early-morning birdwatching, a boat ride to an island, a butterfly sanctuary, La Fortuna, Arenal, incredible food, and some pretty unforgettable experiences along the way.

And this is exactly why I love FAM trips.

I don’t want to simply look at a beautiful resort online and tell you it’s worth visiting. I want to sleep there. Eat there. Experience the excursions. Figure out what the logistics are really like. Notice the details. And most importantly, figure out who I would send there.

So yes… Kelley is going glamping. 😉
And I have a feeling I’m going to come home with a whole new appreciation for this kind of travel.

24 hours before the trip and everything changed.

This couple was just 24 hours away from leaving for their anniversary trip to Hawaii when Hurricane Lowell had them rethinking their plans. Instead of splitting their time between Oahu and Maui, they decided to simplify things and stay entirely on Maui.

And they made that decision on their last day of work before vacation. 😳

That’s where having me in their corner made all the difference.

While they wrapped up work and got ready to leave, I was behind the scenes handling the details—adjusting arrangements, coordinating the changes, and making sure their trip still came together smoothly.

Because sometimes the luxury isn’t an upgraded room or a fancy amenity.

Sometimes it’s knowing someone else is handling the details when plans change.

They still got to head to Hawaii, celebrate their anniversary, and enjoy the trip they had been looking forward to—without spending their last day before vacation stressing over logistics.

That’s what I’m here for. ✈️🌴

The trip is booked. The itinerary is done. So…what happens now? ✈️

We wrap up the loose ends.

This morning’s pre-departure Google Meet was about one very important question: How are we getting from point A to point B?

They needed to pick up a rental car, and yes, it’s technically a 7-minute walk. 😆 We looked at a private transfer, considered the cost, talked through the logistics, and decided it simply wasn’t worth it.

And THAT is exactly why I love a pre-departure meeting.

It’s not always about solving a big problem. Sometimes it’s answering the little questions, talking through the “what ifs,” confirming the details, and making sure everyone feels confident before they leave home.

Because the goal isn’t just to plan your trip.

It’s to help you feel ready to enjoy it. 🤍

✨ What if the thing you’re obsessed with could be the spoke of your London trip?

For Elaine, it was Harry Potter. 🪄

When she visited London last fall, a visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter was one of the experiences built into her trip. And if you’re a Harry Potter fan, this is not just a quick photo op—it’s an entire experience, with original sets, costumes, props and behind-the-scenes magic from the films.

But here’s what I love about planning a trip to London:

Harry Potter doesn’t have to be the whole trip. It can be the starting point.

Your obsession might be Harry Potter.

Or it might be afternoon tea.
A West End show.
Royal history.
Art and museums.
Food and markets.
Premier League football.
Architecture.
British literature.
Or simply wandering through neighborhoods and discovering the city.

That’s the beauty of a destination like London. There are so many interests, personalities and passions that we can build the trip around you.

Because the best itineraries aren’t a checklist of famous places.

They’re the things that make you say, “I can’t believe we actually got to do that.”
