If you love a BIG, strong, good looking gelding, check out these 2 boys at the J Bar D!!! 🤩 We are listing, and riding these handsome fellas for the owner who boards them here.
Gelding #1 is 15.3 hands high, buckskin. Grade. Owner thinks he is between 18 to 20 years old, but he does not look or act his age! He is in great shape, and is no slow poke! He loves to walk out and have a job. In the past he was used in a feet lot, and been shown in 4-H. Owner says he is a great trail horse too! 35️⃣ hundred
Gelding #2 is a good 16 hands high! Bay. Registered. 5 years old. He's been used on a ranch out west, and been roped off of, dragging calves at brandings. 9️⃣K

(Please read ENTIRE post before asking questions, Thanks!) JAE BAR JADEITE (a.k.a. "Jade") 10 year old sorrel mare. Trained cutter! Money earner in WNC (Western Nebraska Cutters) and USCHA (United States Cutting Horse Association).
Sire: King Of The Cats (High Brow Cat X Jae Bar Maisie) $109,124 in NCHA earnings. NCHA National Futurity finalist. His dam Jae Bar Maisie earned $160,290 NCHA, and several World Championships. She was the only full sibling to Jae Bar Fletch who is in the NCHA Hall OF Fame. She is a daughter of Doc's Jack Sprat. His foals won almost 4 million in cutting.
Dam: Jae Bar Lil Jezabel NCHA money earner. Granddaughter of Peppy San Badger and Doc's Jack Sprat.
Jade is such a great horse to practice cutting on! Then go show her at jackpot and/or ranch cuttings! She would be an awesome team sorting horse as well! She is also gently patterned on barrels and really hunts them.
Jade is very light and sensitive. I have never had a "big" bit on her. We have given lessons with her, but she needs a rider with a good seat who does not overuse their hands or legs or kick at the wrong time. I don't think I would describe Jade as "hyper", but she definitely ain't no pleasure pony! 😉 She likes to move out and have a job! She has never been cold back or broncy. I have ridden her out of the arena quite a bit. I have had her on cattle drives (I once stopped a large herd of flighty yearlings in a muddy corn field all by myself. She flew across that field without one slip or miss step. I kid you not, it was Man From Snowy River epic!!!! 🤠). I have also ridden her on many trail rides. Honestly, she is not the best trail horse because she is so watchy and likes to spook. All she does is jump, but she is so quick that I normally ride with my hand on the horn! Also, you can ride her out by herself just fine, but if you ride with other horses and they leave her she will throw a fit.
I bred Jade 1 time. She does have the rabicano gene, and her 2yr old son really shows it! He is dark bay with tons of rabicano roan and is stunning!
Jade has always been a very healthy mare. I literally can't think of one issue I've ever had with her! She has never been injected. Always been barefoot.
She is 14.3.

JAE BAR CHARISMA, (on the right) 2024 bay rabicano gelding (by Rey Jae & Jae Bar Jadeite - first foal for both)! A college in Wisconsin bought him for their horse program. The students break their group of 2 yr olds to ride and then I believe they have an auction in the fall and sell them. Even though it was super cold outside 🥶, we had a good time last weekend at the NCHA cutting in Lincoln, NE. Jacki put some more earnings on one of our stallions, Rockin Jae Bar (a.k.a "Wally").

It's not often that the J - D offers up our broodmares, but since our son is leaving for the military, we have decided to downsize a bit. So, up for grabs are these 2, still young broodmares! Neither mare is broke to ride, but both had lots of groundwork as yearlings! Both mares are currently open.
Mare #1 Jae Bar Phasma 8 yr old homozygous red roan. 14.3 hands. Guaranteed to have a roan baby every time!! Sire: Chex The North Star, a NCHA money earning and producing son of Grays' Starlight. Dam: Jae Bar Alexandria, daughter of Jae Bar Noble, NCHA money earning and producing son of Doc's Jack Sprat.
Mare #2 Jae Bar Zenyatta, 7 yr old big stout 15.2 hand bay. Sire: Jae Bar Commander, grandson of Shinning Spark and Doc's Jack Sprat. Dam: I'm Wishing, a thoroughbred mare that won $30 k on the track.

JAE BAR CHARMER (Rockin Jae Bar X Jae Bar Jesscee) 2024 Sorrel Gelding. A.K.A. "Charlie". All cutting bred! Lots of NCHA money earners all over his papers, including Rockin W, Dual Rey, and Peptoboonsmal. Little Charlie is an absolute doll! 🥰 Very sweet puppy dog personality. Thick mane and tail. Really pretty mover!! This one floats across the ground. I'm sure he'll be drop dead gorgeous on a cow, but we think he is also going to be a really pretty pattern horse. He still needs to grow some, but he'll be a fun project for someone this spring. 6 K In Geneva Nebraska.

Our Criteria for Halter Breaking. Here is a list of what we expect our babies to know, in order to be considered (by us) to be halter broke: 1. Lead (and backup) 2. Desensitized to touch and brushing. 3. Tie. 4. Desensitized to lead rope thrown over them. 5. Round pen work/facing up (and we normally do some lounging as well). 6. Pick up feet.
We put 1 c**t at a time in the barn to halter break them. We like them to be comfortable with being in a stall (just for a few weeks) and "on their own", but they can always see other horses around them. We let them drag a lead rope for a few days. This starts to teach them to give their head to it, and also not to panic (for example if they step on a rein in the future).
Of course any training we do automatically includes teaching the horse to be respectful! That is so important to us, and for the horse's wellbeing.
After well over 20 years of experience this is what works for us, and gives our foals a great foundation to build on!
