Professional Friends of Wine

Professional Friends of Wine We simply think Earthlings are mentally and physically healthier when they enjoy a little wine now and then. (CONSUMERISM).

Basic wine appreciation info: facts about grape growing, wine production, varieties, health aspects, sensory function, labels, etc. (WINE 101), along with advice on selecting, serving, storing, etc. Also Op-Eds and Links (AFTERTASTE), wine tasting notes (TASTE), etc.

Due to my inability to monetize my web site to the point of sustainability, the *winepros.org URL was sold (without content) to Slovakian wine entrepreneur Max Janotka in March, 2021. While I enjoyed my 20+year tender, researching and assembling content to reveal the mystery of wine and expose rumors and myths about its pleasures, my gain was merely in the satisfaction of sharing. Over the past 30 months, Max re-designed the site, greatly increased the volume of content and, hopefully, managed to make it profitable.

Probably like every other shelter-at-home, I triage my refrigerator daily and cupboard weekly (an improvement over weakly). So I Googled "recipes that use salami" and discovered this weird-but-tasty goody (and busted out my favorite Sauvignon Blanc to accompany...)

The winepros.org web site was birthed in 1999, using the straight HTML technology of the era. Although I’ve been somewhat able to keep updating the content, the site architecture is beyond me & there’s no income to hire expertise. I migrated to a less expensive host, but put the content on hold. Please be patient, I’m in the process of learning WordPress... Meanwhile, my eMail still functions: ask me your wine questions. Cheers!

My latest white & red picks are Goldilocks perfect... not that I drink Chardonnay often, but this one – not too lean, not too buttery, very tasty (under $25); Pinot is fragrant, rich, but not overblown, yummy all around (under $40).

Vintage-chart sheep are bound to miss this terrific silky-velvety Pinot that drinks great right now.

Sorry to sound like a shill for Marietta (I swear I'm not on their payroll or even their Christmas card llist), but they keep making Delicious wines that are Great Values, so I can't help myself.
"Christo" is a tribute from sons Jake & Scot to their dad Chris, blended from Grenache, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Viognier varieties grown in Sonoma and Mendocino counties. It is rich, full, and yummy and under $20. Lot 2 is the current release, but they only produce a few hundred cases (he who hesitates is thirsty!).
