Hey everyone I want to thank Brian d Dusek for helping locate some long lost Tiki central photos from back in 2003 I hope everyone enjoys these as they are an extremely rare pre 2007 reopening look at how it orginally was when the Dallas Trader Vics closed in 89. As a couple of you may know they had to alter the building when the hotel added additional shopping in front of the restaurant which included a new central hallway and the leveling out of the sunken dinning room amongst other things.

If anyone has any other pictures of your experience at the Dallas trader vics please let us know we would love to add them to our digital archive!

This past weekend we got to Host Corey Whitworth from while he was in town for a family vacation and we got to steal him for a couple of hrs. To talk all things tiki history! It was a pleasure having you over and were already looking forward to next time we get to hang out!

While we were enjoying the cleaned up tiki bar decided to snag some updated pictures and thought y'all might enjoy them!

I meant to post this last night but completely forgot !

But March 18th 1972 or 54 years ago Seven Seas of Arlington opened for the first time as essentially a copy of the orginal Sea World. At the Time the City hoped it would be as popular as the orginal Six Flags down the street. But that hope left very soon, with its poor attendance numbers and rising cost of Animal Care the park changed hands several times but the Damage was already done. Some animals were even sold off to other aquatic parks to try to lower the cost. As a last ditch effort they rebranded the park as "Hawaii kai" which only lasted from june 1976 to September 1976. The park finally closed permanently and the Sheraton was built on the property while leaving some of the orginal buildings until a few weeks ago when they were all demolished in preparation for imploding the whole hotel.

Seven Seas and Hawaii kai have been one of our favorite things to collect for as it mixes our love for vintage Theme parks and Polynesian history all into one big package!

If anyone has any other piece's of ephemera that your willing to sell let us know!

Ok everyone, here is a weird bit of tiki history.

We picked these up from and obviously these are designs but not made of wood. These appear to vacuum formed pulls off of an actual wood mask as you can the wood grain and chisel marks on the inside that don't show through to the outside. We think these could have been a cheaper rental or purchasable item either carried at OA or maybe Bensons or Sea and jungle. Our guess is that they are from the 90s but not entirely sure. Also thanks to for some insight on these strange items!

Well, today the unimaginable happened, as we got to add two Ren tiki mugs to our collection!

The Texas Tiki Week mug was from 2020 and I always wanted one but we got into tiki 2 years later so hopes were low. Then, last week listed some extras!

This morning, I saw a very interesting ad on Facebook for a Geeki Tiki Chewbacca mug... but something was off! It was a vintage 1960's Ren Clark's Polynesian Village Ren tiki mug with no chips for $20!!! (Receipt included near the end) So far, we only know of a half dozen to still exist and we feel these might be even rarer than the severed head mug.

Now we have never been big Papua New Guinea collectors but when reached out with a lead on a huge collection, we couldn’t resist!

We are not very knowledgeable about these pieces yet but we’re super excited to have acquired the Sepik River hook (or cult hook) and the orange shield as they seem really old. Not pictured is an alligator slit drum which we gave to Zack’s parents.

If anyone has any information on these, please let us know!

Like many of yall we too have been stuck inside due to the frozen tundra outside 😂 so I managed to pry myself from my bed and finish another project that ive wanted to do since I bought our Sawfish Rostrum several weeks ago! Between using vintage photos and some imagination I finished our tribute to the Sawfish rostrum that hung in Trader Vics Orginal Oakland location.

If you haven't seen our other post this Rostrum is a fiberglass and plaster replica thats 4.6ft long.

Now I need to get back to work and try to finish some other projects!!

Hey everyone! Here are some of the fun treasures we've acquired over last couple weeks! Let us know if you've seen any before!

Starting in the left we found these very strange "mini fishtraps"? Or atleast thats what they look like to us along with the shark Jaw at an estate sale in Dallas.

The 1971 Besson's tropical sea Catalog was a gift from a good friend ( You know who you are!) And thank you so much! We'll probably be posting more pics of it in the future!

The Menus were all picked up off ebay which includes a Trader vics Waikiki drink menu, and Variant Ports o call Papeete room menu, and a Steve Crane Chaparral club menu.

And the biggest pick up came from an awesome antique store in Dallas called which included the incredible 4.5ft replica Sawfish rostrum, a vintage hanging outrigger lamp, vintage tapa bowling shirt, and a couple of vintage matchbooks!

Over here at Zahiki, we just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday! Hopefully everyone got some family time and some good food!

Maybe if you were good, you even got some tiki treasures!

Switching the bar over for the holidays is always so much fun and there's no better way to decorate than a severed Santa head mug from
Todd and ,
and a vintage Western Hills Christmas menu from about 1960!

We hope everyone has a great rest of the year and a Happy New Year! You all mean so much to us and we look forward to spending more time with everybody!!
