We’re excited to share that we’ve officially finished mixing the first Nashville Women in Jazz compilation album and have just submitted the final mixes to for the next step in the process!
This album has been a labor of love and a dream coming true after ten years of cultivating community. So far we’ve had 17 women and non-binary artists, engineers, producers, and creatives contribute their time, talent, and care to bringing this project to life. Uplifting and compensating women and gender expansive folks at every stage of the creative process is central to our mission, and this album is a reflection of what’s possible when collaboration and equity are intentional.
It feels fortuitous that we happened to come to this part of the process on Galentines Day 💜 A holiday that has been described as a day to celebrate women’s friendships and support systems, independent of romantic relationships 🩷
Since the beginning of this fun-little-made-up-holiday-by-the-one-and-only-parks-and-recs, it has been widely embraced as a real-world tradition centered on celebrating chosen family, mutual care, and showing up for one another.
That spirit lives at the heart of this album. It has been built through trust, shared leadership, and a collective belief that women and gender expansive people deserve space, resources, and recognition in jazz.
Happy Galentines Day! Love on your gals! And stay tuned for updates, artist spotlights, and the announcement of our upcoming concert series to promote the album! 👀
