One huge mission for Unimpaired is not only to serve amazing food and non-alcoholic beverages, but we also believe in supporting good causes.

At our Iowa City location, we began a late night pizza program in the spring semester that offered free pizza to college students from midnight to 3am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

Sure, pizza after a night out is appealing to students, but the program served an overall more important cause. It gave students a safe landing pad to re-group with friends, drink some non-alcoholic beverages for awhile, get some food in them, and to socialize in a safe space. Safety was the #1 reason we wanted to do the Night Slice program.

As we head in to the Fall semester next month, we want to continue offering this program to students, but we need your help!

Unimpaired Dry Bar partners with UI to help downgrade drinking culture, promote nighttime safety

Below is a program we are running at Unimpaired- Iowa City for college students every weekend at the University of Iowa.

The goal is to help students stay safe after a night of drinking by providing a safe place to eat free pizza from midnight to 3am, Thursday - Saturday.

In the last few weeks since we launched the program, we are PACKED on those nights with students enjoying pizza, drinks, and each other's company.

Each year, among college students, ages 18 to 24:

● 3,360,000 drive under the influence of alcohol;

● 696,000 are assaulted by another student who has been drinking;

● 599,000 who are under the influence of alcohol are unintentionally injured;

● 22,219 are hospitalized for an alcohol overdose; and

● 1,519 die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor-vehicle crashes.13,14

These incidents are most likely to happen after midnight on weekends.

Our Night Slice program is crucial to help prevent these things from happening!

SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE 🍕

Studies show that students experience more blackouts and sexual crimes in the early hours after a night of drinking. Nina Morison, a professor at the , saw this issue and thought a good deterrent was to have a place for the students to still have fun, but in a safe environment.

She asked us to participate by giving free pizzas to the students!
From this mission, Night Slice emerged!
