5 fun things about the historic building we call home!

The Dallas Power & Light building was opened on Thanksgiving night in 1931. Not only did it power the city, but illuminated it with rotating colorways - emphasizing it as a Downtown landmark. Sadly the exterior lighting was discontinued in 1975.

The front of the building includes stone portrait busts of 2 notable fellas in the electricity world - Thomas Edison and Charles Steinmetz, proponents of direct and alternating current, respectively.

The building was built in the Art Deco style, specifically Zig•Zag Moderne - the vibrant, angular first phase of Art Deco architecture. Designed by Lang and Witchell, Otto Lang and Frank Witchell are noted with changing the skyline of Dallas, with multiple other buildings in the area.

The gorgeous stained glass transom above the brass entry doors made by Georgia Jensen and Roger McIntosh (we still say a thank you to them every time we walk by 🙃)

Throughout the neighborhoods of Dallas were DP&L substations to generate, transmit, and distribute power. One such substation was the site of Adrian and Will’s wedding, years before the brewery began, and is where 9 Volt’s name originates.

Our Strawberry Mead is made from hand-picked, fully ripened strawberries from our friends at Greer Farms in Daingerfield, Texas (thanks, Good Local Markets !) The raw honey for this one was sourced from outside of Canton, Texas just an hour east. With no other additives, and fermented to completion for maximum dryness, our mead has a white wine-like presence with a fresh kiss of strawberry on the end. It clocks in at 12.5%. For a lighter, bubbly version with a touch more sweetness, ask for it fizzed with a 6% abv. Either way, it’s a delight and limited in supply, we can’t wait for y’all to taste it this Saturday (that is, if you haven’t already been given a sample by Will 😅)!

We’ve talked about it, sampled it out, and now we have tap space to release it!
This Saturday, we introduce our Perry (Pear Cider)🍐.
We took the same method we use for our apple cider, this time with 100% pears, delivering a delicious cider option to mix it up from the apple usual. We have limited quantity, and it goes on tap this Saturday!
(That makes 2 releases this Saturday🤩)

Cheers, friends!🍻

At Pegasus City Brewery, we’re proud to be part of Texas’s incredible brewing community—and just as proud to showcase exceptional Texas-made beverages beyond our own beer.
That’s why we created Texas Terroir, a dedicated spot on our menu featuring a rotating selection of exceptional Texas wines, available by the glass or as a tasting flight.
This year, we’re excited to add something new from our own cellar: a seasonal series of meads made with fresh-squeezed Texas fruit, berries, and 100% local Texas honey. Whether it’s in a glass of wine or a pour of mead, Texas Terroir is our way of sharing the incredible flavors that make our home state so special.

Our first addition debuts this Saturday!
