I wrote this post 4 years ago and it still holds true today. Happy 9th Anniversary my love💚
5 years ago today, I held your hand as you nervously recited your vows. Me, you, the Hon. Judge Tonya Parker (who by the way remembered our anniversary 5 years later💕) & the Bailiff (who would double as picture taker & witness) stood in that quiet courtroom filled with God’s blessing, love, hopes, dreams, & possibilities. 5 years later we not only survived (because sometimes it felt like just that, survival) everything that has been thrown our way, we have flourished…together. Marriage is a choice. A choice to every single day choose your spouse. To remind yourself daily of why you fell in love. To respect them even when it seems impossible. To nourish, care, & support them no matter what. Not to subscribe to this belief that perfection should be portrayed regardless of reality. My life with you has not been perfect but I am prouder of the struggles we have overcome, the growth as people we have made, the differences in parenting styles that we have reached a common ground to, approaches to friendships, finances, & communication that could have ended us but that we reached an understanding to, much more than the things that never posed a problem. I accept you wholeheartedly, for all that you are, all that you aren’t, all that you want to be, and all that you will never be. My love for you transcends the limitations of this life❤️ Happy Anniversary 8.16.16
