This September CIAR is holding two sessions on Cuttyhunk Island: an Artists’ Residency (Sept 9-16) with visiting artists and Randall Exon, and a Plein Air Oil Painting Workshop (Sept 18-22) taught by renowned painter .

We’re especially excited about this lineup—three exceptional painters working in distinct and compelling styles.

Sunsets on Cuttyhunk island over the years ☀️
Evenings shift here in small increments, that become cinematic and bold. The shifts bounce through the Avalon’s porch, they’re pink at the shoreline and Indio over the chimneys. The same light shapes the work made here in ways you can feel long after the sun drops.

CIAR is glad to be able to offer fellowships to cover and offset the cost of attending our fall residencies this September. Please share widely! https://www.cuttyhunkislandresidency.com/artists...
** The Open Merit Fellowship ** is given to an artist based on artistic merit and covers the full residency cost.
** The Paul Cuffe Fellowship** named for Cuttyhunk’s historic resident, is dedicated to an artist of color and covers the full residency cost.
** The Wellspring Fellowship ** is given to an artist who is also a parent with a child under the age of 18 yrs and covers the full residency cost.
** Partial / Work-Study Fellowships ** offer reduced residency cost in exchange for working up to one hour each day with our wonderful kitchen crew (usually washing pots). Amount of award will depend on the number of recipients.
