Independent music venues all over are facing harsh realities and stresses in result of COVID-19. NIVA - National Independent Venue Association estimates that if no major legislation is passed to help resolve this issue, 90% of independent venues will shut down. The and acts are fighting to make sure this doesn’t happen, and to give the chance for these stages to be filled with music again. But, we need your help.
Please go to www.SaveOurStages.com, send emails/letters to Congress, write to your local representatives, post about this on social media, anything you feel comfortable doing to help spread the word and do what the music community does best...make some noise.
Here are some tips on how to help from NIVA:
✅ ACTION #1: SEND EMAILS
Email Senator Sherrod Brown and Senator Rob Portman and ask them to support the Save Our Stages Act. You can easily send a digital letter by visiting SaveOurStages.com. Use the pre-written text and add a personal message to let them know why it's essential to save Ohio's stages!
✅ ACTION #2: TAKE TO SOCIAL MEDIA
Please push these actions via your social media accounts, preferably between noon to 5 pm. Tag and anywhere that you can, and follow those hashtags and share/RT messages from Ohio venues. Download and use our pre-made graphics (https://bit.ly/2Dz6hQx) or create your own and include personal words and stories. Encourage your network to take action!
✅ ACTION #3: SHARE WITH LOCAL ARTISTS & INFLUENCERS
Contact every local artist and influencer you know and ask them to help promote this campaign. NIVA sent a letter to Congress signed by Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and Whoopi Goldberg. But, it's our local-borne talent that is affected the most. Let Senators Brown and Portman know that if they support Ohio's live performing venues, we will support them.
