Michael Waltrip Taproom Announces ClosureMooresville, NC: As of December 12, 2025, the Michael Waltrip Taproom today announces that its Mooresville location has been sold. The decision marks the conclusion of a meaningful chapter for the MW Taproom, and the team extends its deepest gratitude to the communities that supported the establishment since its opening.“We want to sincerely thank the Mooresville communities for embracing us from the very beginning,” the Taproom team stated. “Your support, enthusiasm, and loyalty have meant everything to us.”The Taproom is especially grateful to the racing community, including NASCAR, NHRA, the Outlaws, all the racing Teams/fans and countless others whose presence and patronage energized the venue and made it a true gathering place for fans, teams, and families connected through the motorsports community.Additionally, the Taproom extends heartfelt thanks to Lake Norman High School for hosting numerous events and bringing an incredible spirit and energy to this location. “You helped make the MW Taproom a home for community celebrations, and we are deeply appreciative.A Distinct Separation from Michael Waltrip BrewingAs the Mooresville location transitions toward new ownership, Michael Waltrip Taproom wants to ensure the community clearly understands that the Taproom’s operations and decisions are independent from those of Michael Waltrip Brewing. The businesses are owned and operated separately The Taproom was originally developed as part of the Michael Waltrip Brewing concept; The goal was for the Taprooms to be a vehicle to sell MW Beer. However, Michael Waltrip Brewing only produces a fraction of its products in Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia, while the majority of the beer products are outsourced to other brewing partners. These operational dynamics have presented challenges and created a strain on the relationship between the Taproom and the Brewing company from the beginning. The MWB company is owned by Michael Waltrip, Bryan Sperber, Glynn Gross, and numerous financial investors.
