ANSWER:

2000 Pétrus. In a project spearheaded by Nicholas Gaume, the intent was to see how weightlessness impacts the aging of wine. Twelve bottles were sent up and the wine spent around 400 days in space. Upon tasting the bottles when brought back, the general consensus was that the wine had aged a bit faster compared to its earth bound counterpart.

ANSWER:

In 1863, a Bordeaux wine took the world by storm as it was infused with coca leaves. Vin Mariani, created by Angelo Mariani, became the favorite wine of Thomas Edison, Jules Verne, and Pope Leo XIII. A pharmacist from Georgia created a concoction like it, his name was John Pemberton. It was a nerve tonic, intellectual stimulant, and headache remedy. When alcohol was outlawed in Georgia, he removed the wine and used a sweet syrup as the base with the coca leaves - thus creating Coca Cola. What a crazy rabbit hole!

ANSWER:

The range of standard bottles sizes ranged between 700 ml to 800 ml for many years before the strong trade between England and France strengthened the idea that 750 ml would be standard. The strongest trade relations with England was with Bordeaux and those producers used a 225 L barrel that would yield roughly 300 bottles of the 750ml size. 6 bottles of 750ml was roughly an Imperial Gallon. This made trade easier and became standardized in the lte 19th century.
