If you know Avery, then you know how special she is. Whether she’s juggling a full day of work with her kids by her side, cranking out salads and paninis with a smile, or opening her home to animals in need, Avery gives her all every single day. She is one of those people who just shows up when you need her, no matter what. She also bakes the best cookies in town.
Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
Avery will be taking some time off from work to undergo and recover from a critical eye surgery to remove a growth on her optic nerve. It’s something she needs to do for her health, but it also means she won’t be able to work during that time, which is tough when you’re used to carrying so much for your family.
We’d love to help take a little of that pressure off so she can focus on healing. Anything you can give will go directly toward supporting Avery and her kiddos while she’s out.
She’s the kind of person who’s always there for everyone else, and this is a chance to be there for her.
If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing this. It really does make a difference.
Thank you so much ❤️

Multi-instrumentalist, composer, vocalist, and poet Eric Mingus Eric Mingus has been steeped in the jazz tradition since birth, using that foundation to create musical worlds that sit outside genre while remaining deeply informed by it.

Born in New York City to Judy and (jazz legend) Charles Mingus, he grew up under and around the piano as his father composed, studied cello and music theory with Charles, drums with Dannie Richmond, and later shifted to double bass while winning awards for his vocal performances in school. He’s toured and performed with many greats, including Carla Bley, Bobby McFerrin, and Karen Mantler, and appeared at major festivals from Berlin, Montreal, and Saalfelden to Adelaide, Bonnaroo, and NYC’s Summerstage and Celebrate Brooklyn.
Eric’s work as a writer and composer includes commissions for the Berlin Jazz Festival (poems marking the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1964 Berlin speech), Yo-Yo Ma’s Our Common Nature initiative, and the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, as well as an in-progress family-history project performed with Yo-Yo Ma at the Mingus Mill burial ground of his enslaved ancestors.
AND HE’S COMING TO CENTER POINT! Y’all better show up for this one! Eric will be unveiling “Memories of a Dragon – The Mingus Spirit,” an art installation for the Music Community of Texas, inspired by Charles Mingus’ Roth “Lion-head bass,” and we’ll have a ZANZENBERG FARM BURGER POP-UP to boot. Be there or be square.
