American Society of Civil Engineers- SIUC Student Chapter This page was created as way for the general public to keep up with events that the ASCE Student Chapter at SIUC participates in and hosts.

Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 123,000 members of the Civil Engineering profession worldwide, and is Americaโ€™s oldest national engineering society. ASCEโ€™s vision is to position engineers as global leaders building a better quality of life. The Society celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002. ASCE at SIUC was chartered in 1986 by 5 students. We

are the umbrella organization under which the Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge design teams fall, however we offer far more opportunities than just the two design teams. We meet every other week in the Alumni Lounge of the Engineering Building on Tuesday evenings at six pm. We have multiple guest speakers each semester, as well as a multitude of service and social opportunities. If you are a student interested in joining, please e-mail one of the officers listed below. If you are a company interested in speaking at a meeting or are interested in making a donation, please e-mail one of the officers listed below as well. Officers for the 2016 calendar year are:
President-Nicole Hanke [email protected]
Vice President-Emily Peterson [email protected]
Secretary-Daniel Lee [email protected]
Treasurer-Nicholas Berty [email protected]

Hi everyone. It has been a while but I would like to let you know the SIUC ASCE Chapter is thriving!

This past weekend, SIUC attended the ASCE Mid-America Student Symposium hosted at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, MO. SIUC was fortunate to bring 17 students as well as 2 advisers.

On day 1, SIUC attended a welcome ceremony as well as competed in FE Quiz Bowl, Concrete Bowling, and 1st & 2nd Year Design.

On day 2, SIUC competed in concrete canoe in the morning as well as survey. That night, President Apryl Paquette gave a presentation on the MEAD Paper along with the Concrete Canoe Captains over the canoe.

On day 3, SIUC competed in Steel Bridge. Later that night, the students attended an awards banquet for the symposium.

SIUC won 1st Place in Bridge Aesthesis, 3rd place overall in Concrete Bowling, and 3rd place in the Women's Slalom.

Feel free to reach out if you're interested in presenting or partnering with the SIUC chapter. And look out, we will be bringing the ASCE Mid-America Student Symposium to Carbondale in Spring of 2026! Be on the lookout for updates regarding the student chapter here on Facebook :)

Please consider supporting SIUC as the SSBC National Finals host. Your contribution will help students to hone necessary technical and leadership skills by covering SIUCโ€™s cost of facility rentals registration packets, awards, meals, and equipment rentals. With your help, we can create an experience that will drive students to become the designers, consultants, and leaders this world needs.
