Well management decided the Phillies hitters should be more patient at the plate this year and they have been as they are drawing walks but unfortunately not getting enough hits to score them. Its time to go back to what has worked for them during the last 3 regular seasons and swing away and live off the long ball and line drives in the gap. Now this approach got them to a World Series in 2022 and the NLDS in 2023 but failed against good pitching the last 2 games and failed in 2024 verse the Mets. They need to stick with it as they have a better starting pitching staff than in years past and could win a few games in the playoffs if the offense stalls. The bullpen is a concern at the moment but would get a starting pitcher ( Ranger Suarez) in the playoffs since they only need 4 starters and Dombrowski has to add a reliever at the trade deadline. And possibly a Left Fielder. The money should be there since they did not spend this past offseason and some players will be off the books next season. Management needs to turn them loose and Thomson needs to manage through an offensive slump and manufacture some runs with bunts , steals and hit & runs. This team is struggling at the moment but will still end April with 15 wins which puts them on pace for 90. Thats a wildcard spot. Just get in and go from there.

Its the managers job to put the players he has in a spot to succeed. Marsh not be able to hit left handed pitching is no secret. Its been like this since he got here. Management also does not see Rojas as an everyday player. These are the players Thomson has to choose from to play CF. The obvious choice is a platoon. Keplar is also a player that struggles verse left handed pitching and Thomson has a bench player in Sosa whom should see more playing time. LF is the obvious spot. Bohm is struggling at the moment but is a proven commodity that has driven in 97 runs each of the last two seasons and hits 275 to 280. Bohm , Turner & Stott need to play everyday. Thomson is making the right decision to continue to play them. Its only 15 games into the season . He needs to pull the plug on Marsh & Keplar being everyday players. Marsh , Rojas , Keplar & Sosa could have the same success in a platoon as Thompson , Incavaglia, Chamberlin & Eisenrich had in 1993. This is a good team that will win 90 plus games and be in the playoffs for the 4th straight season. The good news is their will be reinforcements arriving before the playoffs. Suarez and Painter will be on the the pitching staff. Crawford could be here and i would imagine Dombrowski will sure up the bullpen.
