It’s all very technical: you lift the tanks, you place the tanks, you hope you placed the tanks correctly, and you have brewmaster Garrett Oliver nearby just in case!

We’ve officially upgraded to more room for experiments (and questionable ideas that somehow turn into great beer). This should be fun.

Another well-deserved honor for our Brewmaster. Garrett Oliver has been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from InsideHook’s The Spill, celebrating icons who’ve changed the drinks world for the better.

Over the years, Garrett has helped shape how beer is brewed, written about, and enjoyed. But ask him what he’s most proud of, and he’ll point somewhere bigger, "Overall, I think my top accomplishment has been the founding and stewarding of the Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing and Distilling. We’ve sent more than 70 people of color, many immigrants themselves or from immigrant families, to brewing and distilling school.”

And as he puts it, “Beer is great. But you make it, you drink it, and then it’s gone.” The future of the craft keeps moving, and Garrett is helping lead Brooklyn Brewery into our next chapter as we prepare to open our new home just a few blocks away later this summer.

After nearly 30 years at Brooklyn Brewery, Sherwin Chang has pretty much seen it all. Joining in 1996 as employee #61, he’s worn just about every hat here from accounting, HR, IT, and more. Around the brewery, he’s basically Mr. Brooklyn.

Naturally, we asked him to share a few stories from the early days (and we mean EARLY). Let’s just say… they get interesting. Hear what he had to say ⬆️
