💙 What a perfect Sunday afternoon. 💙

A HUGE thank you to Jean Dutile Bertrand and the Pine Island Aces for stopping in Birmingham on your way back to Louisiana after your Northern tour and sharing such beautiful traditional Cajun music with our community.

The accordion, fiddle, guitar, stories behind the songs, dancing, and conversations made True Story Brewing Company feel like a little piece of Louisiana for the afternoon. 🪗🎻

And what a treat to welcome so many NEW faces to our very first Bal du Dimanche, with LIVE music! Seeing longtime supporters, first-time attendees, listeners, and dancers all together is exactly what Birmingham Zydeco Cajun Club is about.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, brought a friend, danced, listened, ate cake, and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Missed this one? Join us in July:

🎶 Big shoutout to Garden & Gun Magazine for the fantastic article, “The South’s Best Music Towns: Where to Find Your Groove.” We loved seeing Lafayette, Louisiana featured right at the top.
Lafayette is a legendary music town in the region of south-central Louisiana known as Acadiana, which is a major hub of Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco culture. This region is the birthplace of the music and dance traditions our nonprofit organization celebrates here in Birmingham, AL. ❤️
Acadiana is also home to many of the incredible artists we bring to our city. At this year’s Birmingham Folk Festival, the amazing band we presented is from Opelousas, Louisiana (known as the “Zydeco Capital of the World”), and our visiting dance instructor hails from Lafayette — bringing authentic Louisiana culture straight to the stage and dance floor in Birmingham.
The article also highlights Florence/Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and other legendary Southern music communities, showing how deeply music connects people, places, and traditions across the South.
If you love Southern music culture, this article in the June/July 2026 edition of Garden & Gun is absolutely worth the read:
