We stopped by the Pendry Baltimore’s Blue Crab Social and overall, Clink gives it a 5/10. 🦀✨
The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. The views are beautiful, the pool and cabanas create the perfect summer backdrop, and the hospitality was exactly what I’ve come to expect from the Pendry. The staff was warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout the experience.
As for the food, I left wanting more.
The shrimp were served chilled, which personally isn’t my preference. As a Maryland girl, when I order steamed shrimp, I’m expecting them to arrive hot and seasoned. If they’re meant to be served cold, I’d love to see a presentation that feels a little more intentional and elevated.
The Gold Cup Fried Chicken arrived hot and looked beautiful, but I found the breading a bit heavy and wished there was more seasoning throughout.
The sides that accompanied the crab feast included fries, hush puppies, and corn. Unfortunately, the corn was cold, which took away from the experience for me.
And then there were the crabs.
I fully acknowledge that I’m spoiled when it comes to seafood. I’ve spent my life eating Maryland crabs, so my expectations are naturally high. When I visit a luxury property like the Pendry, I expect the food to reflect the same level of excellence as the service and atmosphere.
The crabs I received were on the smaller side, difficult to pick, and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. I found myself working harder than I wanted to get to the meat, and the seasoning didn’t quite stand out for me.
What makes this review difficult is that I genuinely love the concept. The setting is beautiful. The service is excellent. The idea is there. I simply wanted the seafood to be as memorable as everything else.
For me, this wasn’t a bad experience—it just wasn’t the experience I expected.
Final Score: 5/10
Clink doesn’t fully approve, but I can absolutely see the potential. 🥂✨
