Our last post covered The Drink Calculator homepage, which collects your basics, # of guests, # of hours, and thirst level. NEXT STEP: Stock Your Bar. On this page, you'll use our Price Point Sliders + Proportion Sliders to dial your shopping list in to fit what you have planned for the party [i.e., Champagne served all night vs. just enough for a toast] + where you want to invest a little more $$ + where you can save a little $.

FIRST ✅
💧CLICK ON THE CHECKMARK CIRCLES FOR TYPES OF LIQUOR you want to offer your guests at the party.

SECOND 💰
💧Under each one, you'll slide the droplet ON THE PRICE POINT SLIDER to the right spot: $, $$, or $$$. This decision is typically based on a combo of what you know your guests like + where you want your overall event bar budget to land.

THIRD 🍷:🥃
💧Next, you'll slide the droplet ON THE PROPORTION SLIDER to A LITTLE, A LOT or IN BETWEEN. The proportion of each is relative to the other things you're offering. This decision is an educated guess based on what you know about your guest list. Are these friends huge TEQUILA fans + RED WINE lovers? We're rolling out a How to Use The Drink Calculator 101 series. 💧 If you haven't tried TDC yet, go for it! You'll never waste time spinning your wheels trying to decide how much + what to buy for your parties. If you're already an avid TDC user, we'll give you a refresher course on the features TDC has that were built to dial in your hosting with exact precision. Illustrated example: The Liquor Cabinet, where we store your shopping lists + allow you to add notes after the party, which will come in super handy for your next party.

Today we're starting at the beginning, The Drink Calculator's homepage, where you start your calculations.
💧STEP 1. Enter the # of guests you're expecting.
▶︎We always say to round up. It's better to have a little leftover than to run out of something right when your party is ramping up.◀︎
💧STEP 2. Enter the # of hours from guest arrival to departure.
▶︎Again, we suggest rounding up instead of down. If you're planning on 3.5 hours, go ahead + bump it up to 4 hours. If all goes well, your guests will want to stay a little longer.◀︎
💧STEP 3. Tell us how thirsty you anticipate your guests will be.
▶︎To answer this question, you simply need to think through your audience, aka guest list.
The amount of drinks guests will have is often determined by the context of the relationships. An example of two very different guest lists that most of us can relate to is: a party for your best friends from college, who might be VERY THIRSTY, vs. a party for your work colleagues, who might only be a A LITTLE THIRSTY, or at least be on their best behavior.◀︎

Over the weekend, our events team at Craven + Co. orchestrated a garden party with the ultimate summertime wine pairing. On the wine tasting mat, they highlighted:
🌼 Henri Champliau, Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé, Burgundy, France
🌼 Cantine di Dolia, Vermentino, Sardinia, Italy
🌼 Conte di Castignano, Dominio Chianti Riserva, Tuscany, Italy

We believe that interactive place settings are an opportunity to create a micro-experience for each guest while also providing the perfect conversation starter.

Another reason we love wine tastings is that they encourage everyone to try grapes that are completely new to them or a grape they "know" and think they don't like... but by the end of the night, they find they DO like it. We do a little happy dance every time that happens. 🤗

CASE IN POINT
The taste differences between a California Chardonnay and a French Chardonnay can be significant. Don't get us wrong. We're not saying we can change every guest into a Chardonnay lover, but we can say, a wine tasting can broaden your view of a grape that you thought you knew. 🥂
