San Diego Padres Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn hit .394 in 1994, which led Major League Baseball by a long shot. It had been 53 years since anyone had finished a season with that high a batting average (.406 in 1041 by Ted Williams).

To say hitting .394 in a season is a special feat is a massive understament.

AleSmith Brewing Company worked with Gwynn to create a special beer to match the hitter's special season. Gwynn wanted the beer to be “light with a kick.” AleSmith tinkered until they came up with a pale ale full of American hop flavor and aroma, with a subdued bitterness and a malty sweet finish.

While Atlanta is happy not pitching to Gwynn anymore, the city should be happier to get its hands on this incredible beer.
