If you’ve had a glass of Soaked w**e, you’ve already met Shannon in a way. 🍷
But we thought it was time for a proper introduction.
Shannon Birosik is the owner and w**emaker behind Soaked, and her path to w**emaking probably isn’t quite what you’d expect.
She has a degree in food science and spent 13 years developing new products and processes for a confectionary company. She was also making w**e at home long before it became her full-time job.
Then, in 2014, she took a pretty big leap and purchased a w**ery in Berks County from its retiring owner.
That’s where Shannon started doing what Shannon does best: experimenting.
She began creating some new w**es outside of the w**ery’s traditional lineup, playing with different grapes, flavors and techniques. Those w**es eventually got a name of their own: Soaked.
And in 2019, Soaked W**ery officially became its own thing in Walnutport.
If you know her, none of this is terribly surprising. She’s curious. She likes trying something new. She’s not afraid to make a w**e that doesn’t fit neatly into a box. And she genuinely loves creating things that people enjoy.
That might mean a crisp Albariño. A fruit w**e. A w**e slushie. Or deciding that a perfectly good Cabernet Sauvignon could probably be even more interesting if she put it in a bourbon barrel.
So the next time you’re drinking a glass of Soaked w**e, now you know a little more about the woman who made it happen.
And if you see Shannon around, say hi. Just be warned: there’s a pretty good chance she’s already thinking about what she wants to make next. 😉
