‘We fast every day of the year now. There is no difference between the month of Ramadan and other months,’ she adds. ‘In Yemen we can no longer feel any occasions; nothing really feels like what it used to, not Ramadan, not Eid.’

Do lend a hand to help those in war-torn Yemen. Food is crucial for survival. Nobody has the right to turn this simple thing into an impossible dream for millions in Yemen, especially for women and children. Having no food means having no dreams, no education, no health care. It means no sense of self. It means no development. It means no life when every moment is taken up by the desperate search to find food.

We will be dancing for a cause tomorrow. 20% of proceeds will be donated to WFP to provide families with nutritious meals for survival during Ramadan. Advance ticket sales end today at midnight, tickets will still be available at the door.
