I’m booked on this aircraft next spring.
For months, United sold you a business class suite with a door that wouldn't close.
The Polaris Suites on its new 787-9 Elevated cabins launched with the doors installed, but they stayed locked open while the airline waited on FAA sign-off for emergency evacuation rules. That approval landed this week, and United has started activating the doors across the fleet.
United joins Delta and American, who've offered closing suites for years. Its upcoming Airbus A321XLR will have working doors from day one, though there's still no launch date for that aircraft.
Sealed suites fly now between San Francisco and Singapore, and between San Francisco and London. September and October bring temporary San Francisco to Seoul and Zurich runs, then the aircraft moves to Houston for flights to São Paulo, Tokyo and Sydney. A Houston to Heathrow route starts in January.
Booking one of these routes? Airfarewatchdog can find the fare or set a price alert for you.
