Only 3 weeks to go until Boots & Baubles, and we can't wait! Please see the dance list attached.

A comment someone made to me recently really stuck with me. They said, "I'd love to come, but I don't think I'm good enough."

Can I put that worry to rest right now?

Boots & Baubles is a social, not a competition. It's a place to enjoy the music, dance with friends, have a laugh, and be part of our wonderful line dancing community.

In fact, if you're new to the line dancing social scene, we'd especially love to see you there. Everyone was a beginner once, and our dancers are incredibly welcoming and supportive. If you're unsure of a dance, there will always be someone nearby to help you out. We look after our newcomers.

You don't need to know every dance. You don't need fancy boots. You don't need to be perfect.

You just need to come along and join the fun.

So if you've been wondering whether Boots & Baubles is for you, the answer is a big YES!

Three weeks to go, and we're counting down the days. Who's excited? 🤠✨👢💎

I may have accidentally fallen down a rabbit hole researching line dancing near our hotel in Dublin, Ireland. 😂 🇮🇪

While we’re staying at the beautiful Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge, it turns out Dublin definitely has a dance scene! Not just traditional Irish dancing either — there are actual country jive and line dancing groups around the city.

A few places that caught my eye:
💃 Maggies Mavericks Line Dancing Classes — yes, actual line dancing in Dublin!
🍀 The Cobblestone — famous for traditional Irish music and folk dancing vibes
🎶 Whelan's — iconic live music venue
🍻 The Brazen Head — apparently Ireland’s oldest pub
🇮🇪 The Irish Dance Party - Interactive Show — where visitors can actually join in the dancing!

And honestly… I feel like Dublin might be one of those places where you walk into a pub for “just one drink” and somehow end up singing with strangers by midnight 😂

Also fun fact:
Dublin was founded by the Vikings over 1,000 years ago. So technically we’re combining line dancing, Irish music and Viking history on this trip. Educational really 🤠🍀

I have a feeling this tour is going to be VERY hard to top. 🇮🇪✨

I think because I'm new to the line dancing scene, I love teaching the new dances. But when I go to more experienced instructor classes, well I love learning the tried and true dances too!

I remember Penny Arcade the song from my childhood. I love this version of the song by Bud Lite. So Salty Steppers here is a little demo of 2 walls so you can practice!

Just lately I've been asked a few times … “Do you ever get tired?”

Well yes… of course I do sometimes. I’m human - albeit a dancing human! 😄 But overall? My energy levels have actually increased since I started dancing so much more regularly.

These days I’m dancing 5 days a week — plus practicing in between classes — and I’ve noticed something really interesting: movement seems to create energy, not just use it up.

There’s actually quite a bit of research around regular exercise improving energy levels, sleep quality, mood and mental clarity. It’s one of those strange things where the more you move, the more capable your body becomes of handling movement.

A few things I’ve personally found really help me maintain my energy are:

✨ Protein with every meal
I’ve noticed this makes a huge difference to my steady energy levels and helps stop those big afternoon crashes.

✨ Electrolytes/hydralytes before class
Especially when we’re dancing hard or the weather is warm. I find they help with hydration, mental clarity and overall stamina.

✨ Magnesium glycinate after dinner (not right on bedtime)
This has become part of my nightly routine. I find it really helps with sleep quality and muscle cramps. The glycinate added also has made a big difference to the effectiveness.

And honestly… I think joy plays a part too.
Doing something you genuinely love gives you energy in a way that sitting on the couch never quite can. 💃

So yes… sometimes I’m tired. But I’m also stronger, fitter, happier and far more energetic than I was before line dancing became such a big part of my life.

✨ Boots and Baubles is getting closer! ✨

All of the dances are now locked and loaded! 💃🕺
Behind the scenes I’m busy putting together our mega playlist 🎶 and up on the stage… we’re practicing as many dances as we think we can manage! 😅

If you’re new to a line dance social, here’s my biggest piece of advice — pick a few dances you already know and love, and have a wee practice at home beforehand.

You can check out the full and final dance list and the 'cheat sheet' How does this dance start again? by going to https://www.saltysteppers.co.nz/upcomingevents

You do NOT need to know everything to have a fantastic time. Everyone started somewhere, and honestly, once the music starts and the floor fills up, the fun takes over ❤️

You’ve got this! 🤠✨

Well… this blew up 😂 That 'old' comment pushed a few buttons ... literally!

To everyone new here — welcome to the wonderfully chaotic world of Salty Steppers 💃🤠 Young, old and indifferent.

We’re proof that line dancing is:
✨ not terrifying
✨ not just for couples
✨ not just for “old people”
✨ and WAY more fun than people expect

Follow along for laughs, socials, beginner-friendly dances, and a very real chance you’ll end up buying cowboy boots 🤭

Thanks to those who commented and direct messaged me. Blows me away ... dancers from all around the world ... connecting. What a fabulous international community.

A quick note about us ... we are based in a small seaside town. Tairua, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand. If you are ever in our 'hood' we'd love to dance with you!!!

Where are you from?

You know what’s funny?
People hear the words “line dancing” and suddenly picture a church hall in 1987, sensible shoes, and someone’s aunty named Cheryl shuffling to Achy Breaky Heart. 🤠😂

Meanwhile… modern line dancing classes are full of:
✨ great music
✨ laughs till your stomach hurts
✨ people of all ages
✨ surprisingly good exercise
✨ and enough sass to power a small country

The funniest part?
The people who wrinkle their noses at line dancing have usually NEVER actually been to a class.

Then they finally come along “just to watch”…
…and three weeks later they’re ordering cowboy boots online and arguing about dance requests. 🤭

Line dancing isn’t “for old people.”
It’s for people who want to have fun without needing:
❌ a partner
❌ perfect rhythm
❌ or a six-pack

Just bring a sense of humour and be prepared to accidentally become one of us. 💃

🇮🇪 It’s been amazing to see the interest in our Ireland Dance Tour already — and not just from dancers!

We’re hearing from people who have never even tried line dancing before… but the thought of travelling through Ireland with a fun, welcoming group has them seriously considering joining a class! 💃☘️

And honestly, that says so much about what this trip is really about.
Yes, there’ll be dancing.
But there’ll also be laughter, sightseeing, music, pubs, new friendships, and the kind of memories that only happen when great people travel together.

You absolutely don’t need to be a “perfect dancer” to be part of this adventure. The tour is appealing to couples, singles, seasoned dancers, complete beginners, and people who simply love the idea of Ireland and good company.

If you’ve been quietly watching from the sidelines thinking… *“Could I actually do this?”*
The answer might just be yes. 🇮🇪✨
