To our founder, chief w**e hustler and formidable creative genius. A woman who can build a brand, write the line and have three more ideas before the rest of us have opened the email.

Her w**e story began working in her dad John’s company. The apple of his eye, she went on to create SOHO using the Carter family vineyards, giving those w**es a world of their own.

And a lot to love beyond them.

The very best mum to Maren. A boss who backs her people. A friend who shows up.

Then there’s that enormous heart. Always room for someone who needs a hand.

Happy birthday, Rach. Here’s to your best year ever, with all the love you give so freely finding its way back to you.

UPDATE 📮

SOHO’s cellar door remains closed while we work to get the power connected.

Huge thanks to our electrician Scotty Niwa and our w**e neighbours, especially Paul Dunleavy, for coming to our aid.

To our guests, our team and chef Sebastian: we’re so sorry this is dragging on. We’re doing everything we can to reopen.

Thank you for sticking with us. Next update, we’re hoping for something a little more switched on. 🤍

NO POWER. NO WATER. NO SOHO CELLAR DOOR.

Not quite the reopening we had planned.

Due entirely to the actions of others on the island, we’ve been left without power or water and have no choice but to keep the SOHO Cellar Door closed until further notice.

To say we’re upset is an understatement. Our team has poured an enormous amount of heart, energy and hard work into getting this place ready to welcome you back — only to have the decision taken out of our hands.

We’re doing everything we can to get the lights back on, the w**e pouring and SOHO back to being SOHO.

We want to say a massive thank you to all of our amazing contractors who have come to our aid- Mitchell Earthmoving, Niwa Electrical and Vector- what a great bunch of people, the world needs more of you!

Thank you for bearing with us. We’ll keep you posted.

The cellar door is reopening for spring, and we’re marking the occasion the only sensible way: Alisha on the decks from 2-5pm on Saturday, an upgraded weather tight space, a new deck, outdoor games, fresh labels and a very good new menu by Seb at Harvey Eatery.

Same SOHO energy. More room to play, rain or shine.

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?

This International Dog Day, Dusty would like to remind you that our Waiheke Cellar Door reopens on 4 September — and dogs are very much invited.

There’ll be water bowls, grass for zoomies and rewards for good be-haviour.

For the humans: a new menu, bigger deck, pétanque, ping pong, Rolling Stones waterfalls, weather-tight spaces for Waiheke time rain or shine — and fresh new labels on our award-winning w**es.

Because furless mums and dads need enrichment too.

Westwood never followed the rules. Neither should your rosé.

The pendulum has swung.

Today’s most sought-after rosés aren’t candy pink or dripping in sweetness. They’re whisper pale, unapologetically dry and built with the same intent as a serious white w**e. It’s why sommeliers pour them by the glass, chefs build menus around them, and why they’re disappearing from ice buckets faster than ever.

Our w**emaker, Pete Turner has had a little fun with this one.

Hand-picked Merlot and Syrah from our Carter Vineyard on Waiheke Island. Less than 2g/L residual sugar. Pale enough to make you look twice, with wild strawberry, white peach and citrus, before a fine saline thread pulls everything into focus. That final lick of sea spray? That’s Waiheke doing what Waiheke does.

The new label arrives just in time for our cellar door to reopen this spring, where Westwood will once again find its way into every table, every catch-up and every “just one more” that somehow isn’t.

Until then, your fridge is a perfectly good cellar.
