If you have a man in your life you'd like to encourage to get a check up, check out this great initiative from Ostend Medical Centre below.

Anyone who attended our Men's Health Matters evening events will remember the practical and down-to-earth advice from men's health specialist, Dr Alistair Somerville of Auckland Men's Clinic.

If you or a man in your life has been holding off on a health WOF, we have great news for you - Alistair is opening his first ever satellite clinic right here on Waiheke at Ostend Medical Centre! Appointments are now available for 15 June and 29 July.

The clinic offers Well Man Checks, sexual health care, and support following prostate cancer surgery, all in confidential, 30-minute appointments. Men do not need to be enrolled at Ostend Medical Centre to book, and the service is designed to work alongside, not replace, care from an existing GP.

You can learn more about the clinic here https://aucklandmensclinic.co.nz/ and then give us a call on 372 5005 when you're ready to book.

A huge thank you to Alistair for his commitment to the health of our Waiheke men!

Here is a message from our lovely friends at Island Coaches Collective

Kia ora Everyone
We hope you are all well and enjoying the beautiful Waiheke autumn — and we can't wait to see you soon!
The Island Coaches Collective is back with our next free community workshop. And this one is close to our hearts.

Reserve your seat by emailing: [email protected]
There’s something we’ve been noticing lately — in our coaching work, in conversations with others, and sometimes in our own lives too:
We are more connected than ever.
And lonelier than ever.
More contacts. More platforms. More ways to reach each other. Yet somehow, fewer people we can truly call when life feels hard.
Research shows that the number of adults without close friends has quadrupled within a single generation. We scroll, message, react, and stay “connected” — but somewhere along the way, genuine friendship and meaningful connection have become harder than they should be.

This workshop is our response to that.

And the good news is this: connection skills can be rebuilt. Friendship is not something reserved for the lucky few. It is human. It is learnable. And sometimes, all it takes is a room where people are willing to show up honestly.

Can you help the Jassy Dean Trust ? Please see the info below about this year's festival and how you could help them out!

---

2026 is a Garden Festival Year and we’re already well underway with event planning. The dates are set…7th and 8th November. It includes election day, so a busy weekend! By some quiet, organisational miracle we already have 10 gardens confirmed….and its only April!! This year offerings are truly magical, a collection of large and small with formal, tropical, cottage and native options. Eight are brand new, the bi-annual ‘jewel in our crown’ Sacred Blessing Sanctuary has agreed to inclusion again, and there is one very pretty, re-vamped and updated repeat. All reflect the passion and enthusiasm of their owners, and we cannot thank them enough for the generosity with which they share their private pieces of paradise.

Fine detail planning is still ahead but we do know with 10 gardens we need a minimum of 80 volunteers, and that is just ‘on location’. We also need help with parking, signs, food, baking, stalls, music and art in gardens etc. This is a big local event on our Island and takes a lot of logistical management…PLEASE CIRCLE YOUR CALENDAR …we need volunteers for the weekend if you are available.. If you are prepared to be more involved on an organisational level, please contact Jo Ewer at [email protected] - we need all the help we can get!
