A massive congratulations to Gary Oliver 🏆. His 21st National Billiards Title with breaks of 153 and 115 in the Final against runner up Grant Hayward for a Final Score of 669 v 360. Semi Finalists Graham Tocker and Zac Guja. Awesome effort NZBSA .. bring on the NZ National Snooker Championships

The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) proudly launches the Athletes' Commission, a new chapter dedicated to representing the voice of professional pool players worldwide.

This Commission will advocate for athletes’ rights, career development, mental wellness, and active involvement in the future of cue sports.

A massive congratulations to Genesis Tagaloa. Our 2025 Junior 9 Ball Champion. So great to finally see you back on the table and a well deserved result for well thought out consistent play. Another amazing performance from runner up Tyson Argus. 1st Golden Break of the day.. and played hard all day long!!! Special mentions to Jack Beggs and Viliami Latu - coming in at 3rd equal.

Totally blown away by the depth of talent within these young players and the encouragement they gave to the newer less experienced ones. These juniors are the future of our sport and we are all honoured to be a part of their cue sports journey.

Well, what can I say....

6 months of planning, 3 days of play, 2 venues used, 35 tables, 5 separate events, 816 matches and 5 winners!

Congratulations to Bayden Jackson, Denise Wilkinson, Riley James, Kimberley Cullen and the Cashmere 24 Carat Gold Team.

There are so many people to thank, from the committee, Victoria Heavey, Darryl Chambers, Jojo Coleman and Bayden Jackson.

The sponsors, Global Process Management, Giannis, On Cue, Pete's Painting, Keith Thorpe, Brad Campbell, the DPA, the CSNZ, Canterbury 8 ball association, Jimmy Summerville - Richmond Club and Murray Davies - Cashmere Club.

Volunteers, Chrissie Wilcox, Paul Chivers, John Saundercock, Matt Leigh, Steve Denton, Barry Appleton, Clare Shanaher, Riley O'Donnell, Bill Earle, Peter De Groot, Jackie Coleman, Nicola Michaelides, Tara Jackson, Alex Stones and all the Team Captains.
Every single one of them contributed in some way over the weekend to make the event a success and last of all, my biggest thanks is to Charlotte Coleman, who was an absolute superstar over the 3 days, we simply wouldn't have managed without you!

From a personal point of view, many have said i sacrificed my own tournament for the running of the event. Maybe there is some truth in that but I don't see it that way and it's certainly no excuse for any of my performances.

I would rather lose and have the event operate as I think it should, over winning and running an half arsed, unorganised event.
There was many unforseen challenges over the weekend, particularly because of the logistics of the venue and I'm super proud of the way the team thought on their feet and adapted to those challenges.

Was the event perfect? Far from it...

Can we improve? Absolutely 100%...

We welcome both positive and negative feedback and we really look forward to hearing from you all, on ways to build and improve on what we are doing but please offer some solutions to any problems you have. For example, of course we would love to have referees on every table, timing every shot. Go find us 25 volunteers, willing to do 3 x 12 hour days on their feet and we will implement it, no problem! ☺️

For me, the best feeling and sense of achievement all weekend was sitting and watching the Junior Final between Riley James and Sean Beggs and looking around the room at a who's who of NZ pool all sat watching intently at these amazing kids in action. That alone, makes everything we are doing worthwhile!

Right now the team have a welcome break and our players can turn their attentions to the practice table to get ready for the World Championships in Ireland.
I for one can't wait to get over there with an amazing group of players.
