G.O.A.T. ALBUM #16 🔥
I remember the first time I heard Funeral Mist very well. Almost 20 years ago, my knowledge about black metal was close to zero and having just become obsessed with Marduk, I think I wanted something even darker. The natural connection was Funeral Mist. Having heard the intro of ‘’Realm of Plagues’’ or the slow riff from ‘’Holy Poison’’ was like discovering a new planet. Being a kid who was just getting into black metal, I fell in love with this evil force that has found its way into my (then not) rotten soul. The atmosphere of ‘’Salvation’’ is something that still overwhelms me and I do consider it as one of the most sinister albums out there. Arioch's song-writing is uncompromising and relentless and the whole Funeral Mist concept has always been incredibly profound to me. I think that Funeral Mist was my gateway to, let’s say, ‘’dirtier’’ music and helped me start investigating more underground bands than the ones I could read about in Metal Hammer as a teenager. Even though that over time, I came to liking ‘’Maranatha’’ more than ‘’Salvation’’, it’s the latter that was a life-changing album for me. The phrase ‘’life-changing’’ sounds pretty serious to me and for that reason I believe ‘’Salvation’’ surely deserves my personal G.O.A.T. status.

The first new Bewitched - SWE album in 20 years coming up! 🔥
I'm listening to it as we speak and it sounds sooooo bloody good! The energy hits you from the first songs and makes you want to jump straight in the moshpit!

Bewitched is a new-ish band to me that I discovered on the occasion of Cosmic Void Festival last year. I totally loved their show and their black thrash metal has definitely BEWITCHED me! Can't believe I never listened to them before, but it's never to late to discover something new. Even if that ''new'' is over 30 years old 😊

''Diabolical Death Mass'' will be out through Osmose Productions already next Friday, so you haven't got long to wait! Mark your calendars and warm up your neck for some old-school black thrash metal madness!
