WB212408 , Douglas Laing, Old Particular - Big Peat’s Finest (Ardbeg) 2005-2021, 15yo 52.6%

Nose : at 52% , this still has a very sharp piercing nose , raw green peat with some floral notes , zesty , malty

Palate : some similarity with for discussion 8yo, sweet entry with prickly ABV growing, some sweetness, closer to zesty

Finish : medium finish with lingering peat, a tinge of perfumy

WB185853, Ardbeg, Guaranteed 8 years old For Discussion, 2013-2021, 8yo, 50.8%

Sample left for quite a while, initially, when I had this bottle, i felt it was quite monotonous. I think it improved with time

Nose : Peaty sweetness , some menthol , minerals , green peat herbal

Palate : sweet entry, growing prickly ABV, some oiliness, herbal, layers of sweetness

Finish : the prickly coating continues, medium finish, slight lingering ash

Ardbeg , during earlier for me days , I’ve always been given an impression that Ardbeg is tarry , heavy ash, strong smoke, however tasting many newer releases got me wondering why is it some peat and zesty.

Later I learnt that those kind of profile has to be at least early 90s prior to 1996 before they closed, and later took over by LVMH group.

Having said that , i’ve always quite like Uigeadail of the newer bottling , I always call it Oogie, the earliest bottling is back in 2003 , with a quick google search possible average age is 7 year old. I’ve always been on a lookout to have a chance to savour this dram , and the chance was in Whiskylah 2024 , the dram available by the1980sbar , takeaway myself this dram.

On to tasting …

Ardbeg Uigeadail, 2003 Bottling, 54.2% , Bourbon / Sherry Casks

Takeway dram from WhiskyLah 2024
i could be bias as i’ve been looking forward to taste this

Nose : nice menthol, waves of sweet peat.

Palate : oily, waves of sweetness with peat, missing the tar i was looking forward to however it has layers of fruits along with different sweetness.

Finish : nice medium long warming , the tar like feeling comes in the finish, giving some lingering ash , a wee bit of menthol

i can only wish that this is a daily dram …

Macallan Rich Cacao 44%
Macallan Smooth Arabica 40%
Macallan A Night on Earth 2022 43%
Signatory Vintage - Speyside (M) 17yo , 57.5% , Cask DRU17/A106 #12

A Series of Macallan sipping , many Macallan are now easily accessible, and i’m lucky to have some samples for tasting , the recent releases seems to lack some umph , feels abit light and flat , making us crave more , luckily there are some Independant Bottlers which give enthusiast another version of the same distillery be it Vintage , Age , Cask Type , ABV variety.

Needless to say the SV here stands out , nice gentle sherry sweetness, dark fruits , layers of honey sweetness , giving a coat of nice aroma medium finish.

👉🏻 Do you know there’s a Malaysia Whisky Festival on 27 September (Sat) , there’s over 400 over bottle to choose from , it is whisky event as such that we are able to savour more types of whisky 🥃

Do look up for 🥳, see you there
There will be exhibitors from 🇲🇾🇸🇬🇭🇰🇹🇼🇯🇵

It's been a while since I last did tasting, missed tasting 😄 ... 🥃

Happy to be tasting this dram, was meant to be a blind , wouldn't have guessed, and was told before opening to taste this dram.

Kanosuke 2021, First Edition 58% ABV.

Nose : sharp fruity nose, it is high ABV however doesn't feel like 58% , after a while floral with some sandalwood

Palate : floral entry, biting sensation as the liquid flows in , sweetness along with fruitiness too

Finish : lingering fruity notes, and finish with some wood bitterness , slight warmness down the throat

Score : 87

Thanks to a dear friend for the dram 😋

Family Day ❤️

Catching up with Inside Out , pending to watch Inside Out 2.

Seems like comparing Batch 1 CS of Vs Batch 2 😄

Overall I really like this Batch 2 57.1% , both of these have been on super low full for a while. I've this problem of sharing and keeping little bits not putting them into sample bottles.

Happy Father's Day to all Fathers ❤️

WB230024

Hearsay this is from Distillery

There's a bunch of DRU casks released by Signatory Vintage , as Speyside (M)

Nose : sherry with higher ABV, wouldn't think it's 59% , some cacao maybe

Palate : sweet, close to rummy notes for me , mixed with sherry

Finish : lingering to***co , some sourish finish

Overall a little forward dram ...

Thank you for the dram ...

Caol Ila 1981, 40% ABV by G&M , WB111343

Nose : Mainly fruits with a tinge of saltiness, and little waves of peat

Palate : Initial entry felt flat , maybe due to the ABV, There were layers but then some nail varnish arises, paint with some peat, with bigger sips the dram ends with some gentle warmness.

Finish : Lingering peat, with some warmness leakage at the sauna area. after that the liquid finishes, ends fairly quickly. A little smoke suddenly re-appeares in the finish.

Not often I get to taste a dram of such age, 40 years of maturation is a long journey ... It also takes a lot of consideration to achieve this age fit for bottling. Bottled on 2013, means that the distillation is at least from 70s ...

Blessed was shared with this 40 yo Glenfarclas, for whisky some may improve with time , and some may not, there are many factors to achieve balance and all process, component to make a tasty whisky 🥃

46%, bottled 28/01/2013, WB15943

Nose : full of fruits , layers of fruit and at 46% its quite a pleasant nose, dark fruits, slight eucalyptus

Palate : Elegant sherry , very very fruity, a coat of oil , some oaky but not disturbing, slight leather

Finish : Long lingering sherry sweetness

Thank you for the share 🙏🏻❤️
