LC BBQ had a busy weekend...

Headed down to South Texas Thursday evening so we could try and get Bubba on a turkey Friday morning... and it almost came together. Get em next time!

Locked up and headed to Karnes City to load into the Texas BBQ Bash. Got all situated there and then packed up my truck to head to St. Hedwig early Saturday morning.

Woke up a little after 3am and got to St. Hedwig at 4:20. Carl Davis helped me unload my Charbroil barrel smoker my friend Steve Wilson gave to me 7 or 8 years ago. Not sure what year it was made, but I’m sure it’s been around as long as me. I always thought it was a cool smoker and wanted to do a comp on it sometime. Brought a Traeger 22 I picked up on Facebook Marketplace last week too, so figured I had enough room to juggle through a 3 meater.

Got the Charbroil fired up, injected my meats, and started cooking.

Cook went pretty good considering and I was pretty pleased with how it was all going… until after I turned in my chicken. Came back and ate one of my wings. Ouch… Goodyear would have been proud!🤦 Is what it is at that point. Could only hope they left em alone and ate the half chicken.

Ribs were good but over.
Brisket was on point.
Was hoping to at least get a call.

Carl helped me load up all my gear and I decided to stay for awards since they started before 4pm and Texas BBQ Bash awards didn’t start until 6pm. No way was I gonna miss being there to root for Carmen, Chad and Reid!

Chicken bombed as expected – 22nd (needed my chicken cook there Carmen Ridge Breeden 🙂)

4th Overall... I'll take it!

LC BBQ cooked the Richard Reeves Memorial in Fort Stockton this weekend.
They moved it to the city park this year...great venue with lots of shade trees made for an enjoyable weekend.

Reid decided to jump in and cook the jackpot steak with the adults and walked 1st Place Steak!
Nice work...Proud of you Bubba!

And the big meats... judges were tough out there...

7th Brisket (1st on our table)

3rd Overall!

Had a great weekend cooking in Devine at the Cookin' For a Clause State Championship Cookoff! Crawfish, tamales topped with turkey gravy and karaoke night capper made for a good time! Misty Renee Stricker and crew did an excellent job putting on this first year event well done!

LC BBQ ended the day with...

2nd Brisket
3rd Beans

LC BBQ cooked Easter Fest along the Guadalupe River in Kerrville this weekend! We fished, Carmen Ridge Breeden fried fish Friday night, we had biscuits and turkey gravy Saturday morning... Always a lot of fun cooking this one!

We had a fun weekend cooking at Texas Trophy Hunters Association Bucks and Buckles in San Antonio. Perfect weather for kite flying and karaoke!

Epic weekend of bbq!

Started off Friday in Pleasanton at the All Fired Up state championship Champions Barbecue Alliance cookoff...
Had a great time hanging out with everyone... lots of good food, cold drinks and plenty of laughs!

Cook went well on Saturday... boxed brisket a little earlier than normal... turned in at 2:50 and wheels were rolling at 2:53 headed to LC headquarters in Bandera for the LC BBQ - cast iron cookers competition class.

Although we weren't able to stay for awards... word made it back on results...
