Amazing experience BCB Brooklyn - what a wild ride! It was the biggest industry event we have been to. While it was overwhelming, it was eye opening and inspiring to see all the creative ways brands bring their product to the table and engage new audiences. From tequila and caviar, to key-lime pie marsh served by a girl in a bacon suit, it was a blast! As well as trying so many new drinks, it was great to meet some amazing new people and reconnect with old friends. So excited to connect more with this buzzing world.
Big thanks to Maegan Jen and Kyla from for helping bring our book “Tequila, Mezcal and More” to the event, sharing around the new Rambling Spirits salt and spice mixes from - and generally keeping Anna standing (sort of) straight…

Recently we had a fascinating introduction to the production of Maize Nation, a pioneering Oaxacan whisky, thst produced using heirloom corn at a distillery that functions almost completely off the grid. The corn is ground using an Austrian mill, before it is slowly fermented and then double distilled in bespoke copper stills made in Ocotlan. For me the un aged corn spirit was particularly interesting, although the barrel-aged expressions were delicious. Thanks you to David for showing us around!

Learning about diverse agave varieties with Igna from in the dramatic landscape near her palenque in Zoquitlan, about three hours from Oaxaca city. One of the plants she showed us (and we tried distilled) was the ‘chupa rosa’ which is the local term for hummingbird, because the agave leaves have look like a hummingbird head and beak. Also fun to se Bouler’s mural his iconic hummingbird on the wall of the palenque

Loving life and agave in Zoquitlan Thanks for the pic 🥰
