To mark the occasion of our 6th-generation head, Yagi , assuming the role of president,
we have a set of tea utensils specially created for this purpose.
Based on tea utensils passed down at Takayama-ji Temple, these were specially created by Mr. Matsubayashi of Asahi-yaki in Uji.
To ensure a perfect fit, we commissioned wooden craftsman Mr. Nakagawa to craft a lid made from tea tree wood.
Furthermore, the protective cover for this tea set
is a special creation by British Shifuku artist Kyle.
The cover, featuring the characters for “tea” and “harmony” meticulously woven into the fabric, was also created with great care, thread by thread.
For a single tea vessel,
the skills and passion of artisans working with clay, wood, and fabric intertwine to take shape.
Though the materials and countries of origin differ,
perhaps there is a shared sentiment in our desire to “cherish the time spent with tea.”
Even in the parts you can’t see just by looking at the tea caddy,
there lies Kaikado’s craftsmanship and our connections with people.
Thanks to all of you who support us in this way,
we are able to keep our hands moving today.
Once again, thank you very much.
We would be delighted if you could take a closer look at every detail ✨
