Great dinner at the new restaurant of chef Arcangelo Gargano in the forest near Montemarano (Irpinia). Good attention to details, excellent dishes, and all dishes and ingredients have their roots in Irpinia ( Irpinia= the province Avellino in Campania).

Miki Coluccia went from Irpinia to Barcelona for his carreer, Antonio Cannavuciolo went to London. But now they joint forces and created a new restaurant in their hometown Taurasi in Irpinia: ristorante NONNA IONNA.
An easy going trattoria, with typical and local dishes, good wines, all in the style that everybody likes of Italy. A most sympathetic formula. And an interesting example of youngsters who left their hometown but are bringing energy back.

Many - too many - young people are leaving south Italy, but how many of them are bringing something back?

The food was very good, there were fine wines and there was a lot of energy!

LOCANDA RADICI

This is Angelo d'Amico, chef at his restaurant Radici ( Melizzano, Benevento province). And his restaurant is the Info Point for Paul Balke wines in Sannio!

We had a fantastic dinner: local ingredients, and prepared with a creative touch by Angelo. Especially the lamb (agnello) cooked in 6 different ways. And what is more: his restaurant has been awarded as best Italian restaurant for sustainability. They have prepared the process of food waste: there is no waste! This is the future!

Fantastic moment for restaurant Devetak and the family Devetak! Their restaurant is a famous place for everybody who adores authentic food in a traditional trattoria. This is Italian excellence. They received the special award for quality-price ratio for their restaurant Devetak in San Michele del Carso (near Trieste) by the Gambero Rosso magazine in Italy.
With Avgustin Devetak, Gabriella Cottali, and Sara, Tatjana, Tjaša e Mihaela Devetak.

Giovanni Arvonio is a talented chef from Irpinia. He studied with Gualtiero Marchesi and had some working experience also at Enrico Crippa's restaurant. And he has courage: during the pandemy he has started a nice restaurant in Avellino, working on a new concept: a creative cuisine based on local ingredients from Campania. His cuisine includes pizza but is aiming at high quality and also offers gourmet dishes. The restaurant is in the center of the town Avellino: Pizzeria Madremia.
I enjoyed some fried fish and some creative pasta dishes. Wonderful was his invention of a white version of tiramisu: I would return to enjoy this dish.

Pepe in Grani is the wonderful pizza restaurant in Caiazzo, founded by Franco Pepe. His award is merited because he has brought pizza as esy-going food to a new level of quality.
