(F25 – IT, Coimbatore)
I work in an IT company in Coimbatore.
When I joined, I was totally new to this corporate world — shy, quiet, just focused on work. There was one senior in my team who helped me a lot in the beginning. He used to stay late to guide me, bring me tea during long calls, and always said, “You remind me of my younger self.”
Slowly, those talks became daily messages, late-night calls, even personal jokes. He was funny, caring, and always said, “You’re different from other girls here.” I didn’t realize when friendship turned into something more.
One day after a project party, he dropped me home. On the way, he held my hand and said, “We both know what this is.” I froze for a moment, but I didn’t pull back. From then, we used to meet secretly — lunch together, late calls after stand-up, messages during office hours with code names. It felt thrilling… but also scary.
He always said, “Let’s keep this private till I get a proper role,” and I believed him. But over time, things changed. He started ignoring my texts, avoided meetings where I was there, and even said, “We should act normal in office.” A few weeks later, I heard he got engaged — to someone his parents chose.
When I confronted him, he said, “You knew this can’t go anywhere. Why are you acting surprised?”
I didn’t cry that day… but something broke inside. Not because he left, but because he made it look like I was the one who imagined everything.
Now every time I see him in office corridors, I smile and move on — but inside, it still stings.
